 Looks promising

KDE 4 looks very promising - at least, judging by the KDE4LiveCD I've downloaded. The things that prevent me from switching aren't bugs (I haven't found any), but the lack of certain features and apps:

1) Panel isn't what I want it to be yet. Now it lacks many Kicker features.

2) The new Control center just sucks compared to old good KControl. I never liked Kubuntu's Contol Center, actually.

3) Kmail, Akregator, Amarok - these are a must for me.

I'm sure I will switch sooner or later (probably after KDE 4.1) - when most apps will be ported and take advantage of the new cool libraries (Strigi, Phonon etc).

I fully agree, especially with 2!
Kcontrol was so much better and usable.
I really really really don't understand this trend of false-simplification of the desktop. A menu with title and text is far more unequivocal than a f*cking icon right?

I have faith in 4.1, but not in 4.0.

(in fact, a part of mine thinks that some high skilled users will be fed up with this configuration center and adapt KControl to 4.x :D)

 I switched

I've been using KDE4 exclusively for ten days now and while there are still many bugs and lacking functionalities, especially with the panel and konqi, I don't really feel the urge to log into KDE3 again.

The look and feel have grown on me to the point that working with KDE3 at work feels somewhat ... well oldy-worldy.

I've already de-installed a number of KDE3-apps: all the games, kopete, kwallet, etc.).

KDE4 is here to stay!

Hello

IMHO, too many people saw in KDE 4.0 Release the Release of the finished successor of KDE 3.

And, they were wrong.

4.1 will show what really is #1 in Linux dektops.

Still in love with KDE 3.5.8

 if it wasn't ready..

.. for day to day use.. then it's what it's a beta
and should have remained clearly identified that way

I guess it was more important to have it released on a given date than have a "final" 4.0 version and not a beta renamed as final

I thought this too, but "Release early, release often"
You gonna *REALLY* test a beta? or even an RC?
releasing early and often makes it so people *REALLY* test it and get all the bugs out into the open. That's how things really become stable.
I am upset with the number of regressions. I won't name them here. A few of them prevent me from switching.

A few of my programs would have never been released if I had done so when I thought they were ready. The first version of my kdmtheme was simply a concept but it generated a huge response and I got tons upon tons of patches to fix things and add things. Because of that development on it got a huge head start. was highly rated, downloaded and stable within 3 days. I could have never done that prior to that, was a very new kde programmer.

It works great for me and my purposes. Little things need development but the pleasure of using it outweighs any small problems. The best KDE so far - the best desktop of all.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
