I think it should be distribution dependand. In KDE 3 I don't like that background for konqueror "Konquer your desktop" site cannot be easily changed and it is always blue. KDEmod changed it to gray which is more universal.

All in all, I think that default colour is not very important as lonk as you can change it in ALL applications (in this Konqueror site too)

Well ... in kde3 that's not the case, since if you run the application with alt+f2, it will go back to the kde default color, that is blue ...

I don't have any particular preference for a default color scheme in KDE 4, either. I too think that that choice should be left up to the distro maintainers. Sabayon has its red, while most other KDE-centric distros have some shade of blue. Getting into the GNOME world, Foresight and GnuSense have green, while Ubuntu has brown. I mean, who cares? Let's leave it up to the individual distro maintainers.

Besides, my moods change, and I tend to not leave the same color scheme and other stuff that can be easily adjusted in KDE up for more than a few days at a time, and that's why I like KDE because it allows you to precisely state just how you want your desktop to look with a minimum of fuss, which the others don't even offer.

I must say that this voting mechanism is the less informative about user's preferences.

The voting where users check only their most preferable options doesn't provide correct information. For example, it may be that all who voted for gray and red think "well, if my best option fails, then at least orange would be fine". In this case the total score with respect to users' second preferences would change and blue may loose its leadership.

The much more informative voting mechanism is the one where users post their priorities about the options (e.g. orange - 1; red - 2; blue - 3; green -4; gray - 5). It means, that orange is my most preferable option, red is the second; if both fail, then it may be blue would be fine and so on.

There also can be voting mechanism with possibility of equi-preferable options (e.g. black and gray have the same value for me). But in this case total score is more difficult to calculate.

I haven't seen such approaches at other resources. But we (Linux, KDE community) intend to be the most innovative :) So, I suppose, it is the right place for proposals.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
