 Looking at the poll

by nightwriter on: Oct 12 2005

Right now I would say that it's all over the place what people are having trouble with. Most likely I suspect because of how people use their computers. That in itself is all over the place. In order to get useable data you may need to narrow the scope of the question. Such as "Where are laptop users having the most problem." or "Where do multimedia users have the most problems"

You're probably right, however polls should be for all visitors of this site and not everybody has a laptop or uses multimedia hardware.

Ok, but how come on my suggestion you get specific. I sited 2 examples where based on the poll it might be advantageous to get more specific. I don't recall saying that only Laptop using Multimedia Gearheads could participate in anything.

I attempted to make a constructive observation, that might have lead to creative discussion. If you feel that it was a personal attack sorry. I find that kind of action to be too much of a bore,a nd therefore I don't participate in attack commenting. I'd rather know things like. "Since the incoming data is so spread out. Is this indicative of an overall weakness or are there hundreds of pockets of weakness?"

I was under the impression that this was to foster discussin. Maybe I misinterpreted, and if so, I apologize.

 Video card

Crappy proprietary drivers from ATI. Serves me right for not sticking with nVidia. I've learned my lesson. I'm never buying an ATI product again.

Whats wrong with ati? My ASUS Radeon 9600 XT/TVD with ati proprietary drivers works just fine.

 Printer

It's the printer, definately the printer.

The next one will be a nice laser with a network socket, but in the meantime, we have less than perfect USB inkjet that sometimes decides to co-operate with CUPS.

 TV-out

by loggeman on: Oct 13 2005

Score 50%

... and my softmodem is causing most of my troubles.

I acctually don't care if the modem on my laptop works or not, I'm currently sitting on 24MiBit broadband so a slow 56KiBit modem is nothing compared to the broadband.

And second of all. The integrated graphicscard on the motherboard of my laptop is an Intel i810 which means that there is kinda no way to get tv-out to work properly with atleast current versions of xorg.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
