23 millions

By Frank
Published: Feb 11 2005

Here are a few statistics about the KDE-Look.org / KDE-Apps.org / GNOME-Look.org websites.

Last month the system reached:
  • 23 million page impressions.
  • 130 million hits.
  • 1.8 TB Traffic.
  • 15.000 artwork contents and applications.
  • 27.000 registered members.
This means, the popularity is doubling every 10 month.

    The spreading is:
  • 45% KDE-Look.org
  • 35% KDE-Apps.org
  • 20% Gnome-Look.org
Everything is running on my good old Celeron 1.2GHz with 512MB RAM and a constant load of over 30.

Thank you very much to Linspire and the other sponsors for enabling me to pay the hosting.

The overall traffic may be 20%+ for all the files hosted outside, but linked from here.

And I think that celeron machine handling the sites is incredible!. Tell me it's a linux box, or a BSD, please.

I think the current categorizing scheme is not very well, it does not really scale:

    a) Wallpapers just sorted by size

    b) No option to remove Wallpapers and Screenshots

    c) No single category for the new KDE themes

    d) Why not text editors under Utilities?

    e) fallback KDE improvements needs further sections

    f) no repository for "documents" eg. Usability guides, document templates for Konqueror and so on

How do you like Plasma 5?
     The best KDE Desktop ever.
     Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
