Attention Blender artists

By theobroma
Published: Nov 29 2004

Blender 2.35b, the latest version of an open source professional 3D modeling, rendering, and animation program has been released. Now with a full undo system, complete rewritten and upgraded mesh modeling, Outliner tool, new deform features, and much much more. Read the full list of additions and changes in 2.35.

Reader comment from slashdot.org-
"I fell over when I saw the new features of this program. this is a huge release. you can see the improvements in rendering speed and quality even just rendering a cube. The internal rendering is outstanding with this.

for anyone who has messed with it just a little but never got a grasp of using it, there are some great divx videos available on http://www.blender3d.org. With this, one can become extremely proficient, seeing somebody with skill actually use the program. 3D is hard to learn because so few people do it."

You can download the new Blender here and don't forget to check out their new video tutorials!

BLENDER ARTISTS WANTED

The project name is Kard and it's a Memory(TM)-like game for young children. The game displays pairs of pictures in a grid, ranging from 4 (2 pairs) pictures to 24 (12 pairs). The child clicks on 2 pictures and if they form a pair, the pictures disappear. The aim of the game is to remember the position of each picture in order to make the pairs in the less clicks possible. The pictures are scaled by the game and resize whenever the user resizes the window or whenever the user changes the number of pictures.

Click here to see some screenshots.

What is needed:
12 (256 x 256 pixels) pictures featuring a theme saved as a svg or a png.
Suggestions: music instruments, flowers, toys, clothes, fruits, vegetables, ... anything that appeals to a kid aged 2 to 10. Currently we have a geometrical theme and a 'house-related-furniture' theme.

How do I submitt my theme?
Send to Author/Maintainer: Anne-Marie
Her email address is annemarie.mahfouf@free.fr.

What happens next?
The Kard development team will decide which themes to select and will contact you directly. After this game has an icon and 1 or more themes, it'll move in a kde module (either kdegames as kid game or kdeeextragear). This will be a great opportunity to practise with the new version of Blender and will also benefit all our kde-kids.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
