What's the current status of this project? I really hope it's not dead... This is one of the biggest reasons I'm eager to try Kubuntu...

 Add launcher functionality

by ChrisBuchholz on: Jun 10 2009

Score 50%

Hi,

thanks for this great plasmoid! It's really so much better than the default windowlist plasmoid. I just wish it had functionality for launchers, so that you can add launchers to the STASKS, let's say for Dolphin, and if it's not already running, it just launches it when clicked. But then the launcher becomes an running-app item, so it's now refering to the running app instead of launching when clicked. Kinda like the windows superbar and Mac OSX.
That would be wicked!

+1 vote from me...

Just great functionality with this for all of us who use vertical bars and not horizontal.

 Headsup for KDe 4.2.4...

A warning note to all... after updating to KDe 4.2.4, Stasks doesn't seem to push other widgets to the edge of the panel anymore.

A screenshot:

See what I mean?

Ah, ignore me, I seem to have SOME KDE 4.3 beta 2 packages installed.

And STasks stops working.

I have this problem too, and I think we can use the plasmoid "panel spacer" solve this problem temporarily.

This is regression / behavior change in Plasma in KDE 4.3, many applets has sizing issues, even Panel Spacer applet doesn't work anymore...

Life is unfair...

 source hosting?

by SeaJey on: Jun 14 2009

There are already some bugs reported and patches floating in the comments, maybe Stasks creator should put the code into some source hosting (gitorious.org, github.com or old good sourceforge.net )?
With bugtracker, wiki and other goodies?

 A suggestion

What about an option to just show the tasks that are _not_ on the current Desktop? So that you can use the Window Bar next to the stasks.

That would be awesome as well.

You have three windows open on current desktop. And you would see 8 tasks on Stasks what all are on the other desktops. This would remove the need of swtiching desktops or using KWin effect "Present windows" on all desktops.

Sometimes I like to use feature "Show only minimized" and this would fall to same feature.

It just could overlaps the feature requested to allow include ("pin" as Windows 7 says) shortcuts to it.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
