 Grouping

by Rasi on: Mar 24 2009

Grouping doesnt work very well. Most programs add <2> <3> etc.. to new program windows. Stasks handles those as completely new names.

No, it's not the case. Whole grouping thing does not work as it should, and its not because of the stasks. I just had Dolphin and Dolphin <2> been grouped, but when i repeated - nothing grouped

Problems with grouping are bugs in libtaskmanager (KDE library used by Tasks, STasks and Fancy Tasks).

Thx again for the beast (and most productive) plasmoid out there.

I have 2 small requests (if possible):

is there a way that the plasmoid will remember the position of a program that is to always sort firefox 2nd and amarok third no matter what is opened?

also is it possible to have middle click close a prog like in fireofox tab close?

thx alot again for your effort

Zeltak

 Some Functions

What about a minimize button and a maximize button next to the closing button in the preview?

I don't think that it is good idea to add more buttons to tool tips, even if they would show up only on hover (personally I don't like for example controls shown for each entry in Dolphin or Gwenview ;-)). It takes space and could be distracting.
Maybe it would be better to add standard task context menu to previews, I've added them in my applet and it works good (it is slightly harder to discover but doesn't waste space when not needed).

Small off topic, there (on KDE-look.org) could be added mechanism to create small polls (but not only one at time) for users for better feedback.

 drag-drop doesn't work

by ruchirb on: Mar 27 2009

When we drag some item and move mouse over task group button to drop in one of the group windows, it doesn't expand and let us choose the window to open and drop the item.

 screenshots of tasks

It would be really nice if it shows screenshots of open tasks which gives more room for mouse click like in windows 7.

It does with effects on, but if you are running compiz-fusion or kwin with effects disabled then there are no previews.

The click are without previews is very small

Any chance of having a larger click area for when effects are off, maybe multiple lines of text for the title?

Yeah I noticed that with kwin effects I can see screenshots. If effects are disabled, how about showing just placeholders of screenshots so we get enough room.

It's possible to have previews (but not live) even without Composite but this makes some problems (for example they could sometimes have wrong content).
I'm using that mechanism in Fancy Tasks so Marcin can port also this feature from it. ;-)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
