is it possible through settings? if not, it would be great if i could widen the tasks a bit for greater precision.

 kde 4.3

by Rasi on: Mar 23 2009

stasks does not work properly on a kde4.3 snapshot. The task"bar" is not expanded, which leads to all applets of the panel gaining equal sizes.

Another effect with 4.3 is that the expansion of tasks is not working properly. It flashes open and directly closing again. Which seems to be the behaviour of the 0.3/0.4 versions.

The Panelspacer could be used to push all the plasmoids on the panel to the right position, however the side effect with this is that it is swapping position with stasks (and sometimes also other plasmoids) after restart.

But your plasmoid is great and I use it daily (even with the mentioned "bugs").

Raymond

IN 0.5.1 I can't add more than 5px between icons. Before, I may set till 20px (...but should be more)

 Awesome!

This is awesome!

However, I miss two features:
* Window peeking: When I hover over the preview windows I'd like to peek the window I'm hovering with the pointer (like in Widows 7).
* Application pinning: I'd like to pin applications to this "taskbar" so they are shown even when they are not running (unification of quicklaunch bar and taskbar; like in OS X and Windows 7).

If those two features where implemented it would certainly beat OS X/Windows 7. :)

Oh, and another thing:
When the mouse is hovering a preview window and the title does not fit in the space, a quickinfo showing the full title should be displayed. Because I have a lot of PDFs of the name "Microsoft Powerpoint - REAL TITLE.ppt" and so I only see "Microsoft Powerpoint -" which isn't helpful. ;)

Marcin will add support for launchers in near future. :-)
Now we will work on specification how it should behave, here are some initial ideas I've created (most probably both applets will use the same strategy):

I see.

However, I wrote a patched version that adds the tooltips I was writing about and also window peeking. However, the window peeking is implemented in a very quick and dirty way by toggling "always on top".

I just noticed one more thing: Task Drag-and-Drop to the pager does not work with this. Thats actually a feature I use from time to time. I hope this will be implemented some day.

I've found needed code (for drag and drop) so I think that Marcin will add this feature in next version.

And by the way, you wrote wrong closing tag in one of previous messages, that it's why that link doesn't work. ;-)

+1 for application pinning.
Not sure if this is already implemented and broken, but it'd be cool if started apps would also show their window titles next to their taskbar icons.

Yes I already used that option but "all" doesn't keep the taskbar compact and "active" doesn't seem to work unfortunately, just flashes once and then it's the same as if the option was turned off :-/

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
