 Unexpected client disconnect

by Machtnix on: Sep 7 2009

Score 50%

Hello,
thanks for this plasmoid; up to now it seems it is the only one which I can compile on a 64-bit system.
I run Arch linux 64-bit with ipop3d as local pop3 server. Each access from GX mail notify produces this error messasge in the mail log file /var/log/mail.log (it works nevertheless):

Sep 7 22:57:08 arch64 ipop3d[20872]: Unexpected client disconnect, while reading line user=xxxxx host=arch64.yyyyy.de [127.0.0.1]

I use GX mail notify to check incoming mails retrieved by fetchmail daemon (to avoid doing this with my email client).
And yes, I used "korn" with KDE3, too. That email checker had been part of the old kdenetwork or kdepim package of KDE3, showing the number of new mails for configured accounts and playing a sound for new mails arriving - if you want.

Thanks for your job, it's veryl useful! But, why not improve it with a preview of the received mails? (i mean, like thunderbird's notify when it stay in the tray)

Sorry for my english! =)

Hi,

my priority is now focused on another project.

I have not enough time for all of my stuff at one time.

My another project is near to finish. Next plan is spend some time on this plasmoid.

Is it possible to add a check (optionnal?) in every directory? ...
Because when you have filters, new mail are sometimes not in the inbox...
Anyway thanks :)

Yes, that would be cool.

And an other thing: when you have new mails you open your client and read them. But this plasmoid still shows that you have mail.
So, a little option would be nice that the plasmoid checks the mails again after, say, 1 minute after the mail client has been opened.

There is button "check now" for refresh immediately, but your idea is very good. Thanks.

Check for certain IMAP folders is in my plan.

I promise i will work on the plasmoid next month.

I made some patches to integrate this plasmoid with KDE notification system:

Let me know what you think about it.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
