 dataengine?

What about writing a DataEngine?
I see so many similar Plasmoids here around, and all write their own Data-Handling without a DataEngine. Plasma is designed to seperate Datahandling and viewing.

So probably someone wants to write a complete MailCheckerDataEngine, with good luck this will take its way to kdebase ;)

Hi, maybe in future...

This is my first plasmoid and my first c++ application. I studied DataEngines and its good idea, but it's not time for this.

I wanted only plasmoid for checking e-mails that really works ;-).

 ssl

Hi,
unfortunately there still seems to be a bug at least in the ssl mail lookups.
After setting up my account the first time gx looks for mail I have to accept the certificate and it correctly gets the status of my account. But all subsequent lookups produce the following error messages:
Error while reading: error:0D07209B:asn1 encoding routines:ASN1_get_object:too long

Hi,

it's interesting. I tested ssl with three different accounts and it worked.

Plasmoid seems to load badly certificate from config file.

What's your mail account?
What do you have distribution?
Do you have 32bit or 64bit OS?
What do you have version of openssl lib?

Maybe it'll be problem here.

Hi,

I am using 64-bit Kubuntu Jaunty with libssl/openssl 0.9.8g.

The error occurs with my account at the University of Karlsruhe (pop.uni-karlsruhe.de) and I just found out that using my gmail account, everything is fine. So the problem doesn't seem to be related to the specific system I have installed.

What is still weird to me is the fact that it gets the status once, but only once on my Karlsruhe account...

Hi, there is simple answer.

What Plasmoid do:

First encrypted connection:
- accept certificate
- save certificate
- check messages

Second encrypted connection:
- load certificate (in your case probably badly) - you get error
- if success then compare certificate
- if equal then check messages else show new certificate and save, etc.

So is there any known workaround? I'm having the same problem on Mandriva x86_64. I have a Lavabit email account.

Also (maybe those problems are related) the certificate from yahoo.co.jp (unlike the one from yahoo.com) doesn't seem to get saved properly, as I'm prompted to accept it on each e-mail check.

To dsherk and DuckZ2:

Please test new version (0.4.2). I fixed problem with certificates, I hope.

Tested on Lavabit and pop.uni-karlsruhe.de mail servers.

Probably is the bug in QT SSL class. I changed method of saving.

Thanks

i would vote for the following:
- popup notify
- possibly launch email program (from popup?)

that would be really great!

yes, a notification showing the email headers would be great :)

i would also like an option to show the email header for every email when you click on the icon, not just how many mails you've got

Nice little widget this. However, there is one bug that i noticed. After I initially installed it and went into the configuration and added 4 email accounts, it seems only one of them was really activated (the first one). To bypass this behaviour i had to add them one by one, hitting the "OK" button in the main config after each new account i added. Then bring the config up again, add another account, and so on.

 Very Nice...

This is nice. Multiple-accounts, good implementation. How do I reset this? I got the emailnotify plasmoid installed too and a misconfiguration or something has caused gx-mail and emailnotify to not detect mail that has been deleted. Whenever I get mail on gmail it just gets added on - the deleted email doesn't get detected. I think this has to do with the config because before emailnotify would notice if an email has been delete. Is there a way to delete the config file and try again?

Hi, it's interesting.

Plasmoid delete their configuration and immediately check new mails every time if you click on OK button in configuration dialog. But i don't think, problem is here.

Plasmoid search unreaded emails in INBOX folder (on IMAP Accounts).

I don't know what's happened, really... :-/.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
