 SSL?

How do I get this plasmoid to work with a self-signed cert? I get the error message "The certificate is self-signed and untrusted". I surmise that this is a KDE issue...?

Nice work though. This widget is sorely needed.

It's possible to work with a self-signed cert, I temporally change line 87 in mail_checker.cpp:

Quote:

if (account->ssl) socket.connectToHostEncrypted(account->host, account->port);

by
Quote:

if (account->ssl) {
socket.connectToHostEncrypted(account->host,account->port);
socket.ignoreSslErrors ();
}

build, install and it works ... but it's not a good idea to do that (for security reasons), see: http://doc.trolltech.com/4.3/qsslsocket.html#ignoreSslErrors

Well, the german Mail provider GMX actually has an invalid certificate, so this new feature would be nice. ;)

Keep up the good work!

cheers

This plasmoid almost replaces the old KDE mail checker Korn which was part of Korganizer in KDE3. I've been looking for months for a replacement in KDE4 and this is a great plasmoid!

One feature request: please show the subject and sender headers of new messages. They should flash when new mail arrives and appear again in the extender that appears when single-clicking the plasmoid. This helps the user decide whether it needs a response right away and its worth opening a mail client or if the new message can wait to be read.

I'd also like Yahoo! Webmail support but I realize that that's probably not possible.

And what do you mean with "Yahoo! Webmail support"?

I guess he meant an access to Yahoo Mail via their publicly available API - http://developer.yahoo.com/mail/

Yep, there are many mail checking tools in Windows but only a couple can check Yahoo's mail, and none for Linux (that I know of) so if it can be done in this plasmoid that would be wonderful. :)

But the fact that this isn't a common feature may mean its hard to do, Yahoo isn't exactly as well known as Google for their APIs. So not a high priority.

Does Yahoo! provide access via IMAP4 or POP3? Or only via webmail?

I will check this in future.

Did you try YPOPs! or FreePOPs apps? It's good solution for this.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
