I believe that the screenshots are self-explained.

Update #1:
I've made the mockup more "oxygenised" :P

 Send it to the mailinglist...

I really like this idea.
Until now, I didn't really feel comfortable with the new layout of Amarok 2.x (I'm following the development since it's beginning) but this mockups blow away my doubts - they just need to be realized ;-)

The chances of attracting some attention are way higher on the devel mailinglist - so please send this mockups to it.

Regards,
Elias P.

The mini-mode is a must. I hate that awful big window.

What a brilliant improvement this would be!

 Even better...

Though the functionality of each Amarok release amazes me, in terms of UI it has been running backwards.
Lots of unused space, unbalanced elements (think of that huge top bar, with four overlapped buttons), too much colors...

It has become a cliché, but Apple UI style - dark grey, subtle gradients, monotoned action icons - really is the way to go. No need to start mumbling about FOSS values and other mumbo-jumbo - we're talking about colours, fonts and sizes.

Personally, Songbird - UI-wise - has great concepts, much in the trend of Firefox and Web2.0. The only thing lacking is performance. Other than that, Amarok devs should take a look on that project.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
