Free space on plugged devices and...

Downloads:  1560
Submitted:  Aug 20 2008

Description:

Why can't we know how much is the space left on "recently plugged devices" plasmoid?

Furthermore, why can't we reach the action we want directly from here?
A little menu with the actions could appear with just the mouse cursor over an arrow...

---- edit ----

I've posted this idea here:

http://forum.kde.org/show-space-left-on-devices-t-46314.html

http://forum.kde.org/submenu-for-available-actions-for-plugged-devices-t-46315.html

splitted into two ideas because otherwise it cannot be approved

 Good idea, but....

Good idea, but I would prefer a graphical progress bar instead of a percentage "text-only" Display.

of course, but when I plug a device and I want to open it, I'd know immediately how much space I have :)

Some like text (raises hand); some like pretty graphics.

How about a configuration for both:
o Show space as graphic
o Show space as text (%)
o Show space as text (KB)
o Show space as text (MB)
o Show space as text (GB)

I'm sure there's room for improvement on that, but options are one of the best things about Linux.

 new device notifier

by madsheytan on: Apr 20 2009

There is a new device notifier plasmoid in svn now and will be in 4.3. It shows only an icon of a device, some text under icon like name of the device and allows to unmount it.

Be free to have a choice.

 What about the eject button?

This is a nice mockup, but the eject button really speeds things up. I like the free space idea, but I'm not so sure about the actions menu...

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
