Description:

Hi. This is my idea for \'fast search\' inside application like dolphin(files), kmail(messages), kontakt(contacts) etc.
Including Plasma applet, or an application working in systray.
It should works like Mac OS X spotlight. So, to all Developers: PLEASE MAKE IT! :D

 Search

There is coming much bigger technology to KDE4 than Spotlight is on Mac OS X.

It is called a nepomuk and it is developed with EU funding to have semantic search technology. There is big corporations supporting it's development.

It will allow more things than this one. But it is not ready and you just need to wait :-)

Currently you need to use Filter toolbar by pressing Ctrl+i but it does not filter sub-directories what you want.

KDE4 is here to konqueror desktops ;-)

i know, that there is nepomuk. I just want to have a fast acces to make a search like the search field. So i dont need to type any shortcuts, just click on the field and type a word to search ;]

Right now if you have hundreds of folders, you're using dolphin and you don't want to scroll through for ages you can press Ctrl+i and you will get a filter bar that will find the folder name you type in.

If that function was made recursive then it would find individual files in the folders. Thus making it a very good feature, and great for usability.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
