 ACPI & APM

by tightcode on: Nov 25 2003

Score 50%

I have now had the opportunity to play around a bit more and am really liking this theme. I have a couple of questions about the battery script. I use APM on my laptop instead of ACPI since ACPI can't be used. The KDE KLaptop program works great, how can I make this function work in the osXBar with APM instead of ACPI?
Regarding CPU usage, it seems to report as running only 0.8% (superkaramba osXBar.theme), however the CPU usage of X increase from about 1% to 20% when I open osXBar. Is this normal? I am running a Pentium Mobile 1.5 (Centrino) with 512mb DDR ram. I am going to see if by any chance speedstep is incorrectly enabled and limiting my processor but my cpu utilization seems higher than everyone elses so I thought I would comment about it. I disabled all scripts except trash and battery.

Cheers,

TightCode

Can you send this output:
cat /proc/apm

I cannot use APM, there are old scripts on
/scripts in osXBar folder, did you try to run them?

I've just end the 1.0.20, when i have time to post it i hope apm will work :)

Without AC Power (two examples):
# cat /proc/apm
1.16 1.2 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x01 41% 65 min
# cat /proc/apm
1.16 1.2 0x03 0x00 0x00 0x01 40% 61 min
With AC Power (two examples):
# cat /proc/apm
1.16 1.2 0x03 0x01 0x03 0x09 39% -1 ?
# cat /proc/apm
1.16 1.2 0x03 0x01 0x03 0x09 40% -1 ?

Let me know if this is what you need. If there is anything more I can do to help please let me know !

Cheers,

TightCode

Hi,

I have superkaramba successfully running, and have un-tarred the files into the osXBar folder. when i try to configure, it says that no osXBar.config was found. Any help would be sweet.

I am running Yellowdog on a PPC.

Thanks. djseattle

Did you try to run osXBar.configure script?

You can simply copy osXBar.conf.sample in osXBar.conf

 Where is 1.0.23?

You put up a version yesterday numbered 1.0.23, and there is a patch for superkaramba for it, and a changelog entry, but no 1.0.23? What's the story?

Yes, i had release the 1.0.22 and the sk 0.33 patch for 1.0.23.
I've done some speed improvements on osxbar 1.0.22 but they require on the sk patch.
I'm testing new version while "users" can upgrade superkaramba... the patch is necessary for any new versions of osxbar.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
