 Crash...

 by tightcode on: Nov 23 2003

Score 50%

I am running:
SuSE 9.0
KDE 3.1.4
Superkaramba 0.33
KDEDIR /opt/kde3
path icon /home/tightcode/.kde/share/icons/:/opt/kde3/share/icons/:/etc/opt/kde3/share/icons/

The error I receive is the following:
superkaramba: TaskManager::TaskManager()
osXBar.py:22: RuntimeWarning: Python C API version mismatch for module xcursor: This Python has API version 1012, module xcursor has version 1011.

ValueError: invalid literal for int():

Results:
All but two icons dissapear from the desktop, nothing appears, and when the mouse travels over the area of desktop where the icons used to be KDE returns a SIGSEGV for superkaramba.

Other superkaramba themes work... but this is of course the one I want most!

Cheers,

TightCode

Try to update to 1.0.19
and overwrite osXBarCfg.py
with this one
http://www.xiaprojects.com/osXBarCfg.py

If you have trouble with desktopSelector
try to configure manually the number of vdesktops in osXBar.conf

I have just upgraded to 1.0.19b and the error message looks slightly different...

What is new is the getwcd error and the fact that it reports that it is 1.0.20 instead of 1.0.19

Seeing the kdeglobals error I went and looked at the Desktops section. Names hadn't been defined so I defined names but it didn't help. There was however no Number entry under [Desktops]. I also tried setting VirtualDesktop as 0, a set number, and commented out but it didn't help either. I am short of ideas... Any suggestions anyone ?

The configuration was smoother than 1.0.18 so although it still won't run I am seeing improvement !

Thanks,

TightCode

Thank you I didn't have expandall enabled so didn't see your comment. I downloaded that replacement file and now it runs.
I did however forget to download the themes and icons so I have a large blank area in one place but I am working on fixing that right now.
I am also now manually going through the config file looking at the options to remedy anything else. If I get stuck I will report back otherwise I will try to avoid asking silly questions.
Thank you for the wonderfull work and I will let you know as I progress.
I love the new osXBar.configure2 by the way ! The only thing I can imagine adding to the configurator is a description of what each option is but I can imagine that is a lot of work for little return. I just am not sure what say bounce and micro do differently without trying them, which I will do ;) !

Thanks again !

 Still slow

the newest version is still way too slow on a PIII 1.4ghz, 64MB video ram, 512MB of ram. Also, some of the icons are a bit jagged. But, I'll keep downloading and trying it out :)

Are you sure? :(
Did you check the osXBar.theme and osXBar.conf

[I Think :)] This is the fastest engine

About unclear icons, can you send a screenshot or tell me the name of icons?

PS:
Remeber to setup superkaramba to Enable "Use fast image scaling"

I'm using a PIII 800Mhz with ati mobility

 a few requests...

i really like your osxbar and have no errors, but i have a question. i want the bar only to be a quicklaunch, i dont need sensors nor do i want tasks or the kmenu to be displayed, is there an easier way to disable these then to edit the config file?
for example it would be great if you could set the option to use source folder which contains all links to apps with icons that you want to be on the bar; so everyone can just drop links to programs there, saving him all the code editing.
an opton like this is already available in the slickbar-quicklaunch, the code might help you.
thanks alot and keep upt the great work.

p.s:it would be great if you could provide tgz tarballs in addition to the bz2 ones. the bz2 ones take REALLY long to extract.

Check these lines on osXBar.conf

ArrowUpdate => 600
MaxTaskIcons => 0
EnableSensors => no

For icons remove and add as you prefer

addPathIcons => your icon folder

-----------
Link and DND apps into a folder is coming on 1.0.20 or 1.0.21, when interrupt sensors will be available the icons can be links or other types, like kde .desktop:)

about tgz ok ;) see you on 1.0.20

 Task icons

 by Matti on: Nov 24 2003

Score 50%

As always, I must say how fantastic this theme is. Very fast, and very smooth.

Just a small problem here. If I open an app, where there is no corresponding icon in the default theme, I'm not getting an 'x' icon added to the bar. I just get a blank space. This used to work on earlier versions, but isnot working now.

Any clues on where to look to correct this?

Matt

 bug

Hi stefano.
Just wanted to notify you, that there's a small bug in osXBarMatrix.py (1.0.18). In line 190, the "48" has to be replaced with "64". Then the left round corner is properly aligned again. Otherwise, it's below the icons and there's an ugly corner.
Bye,
Jonas

hm. that only works for round corners. If the left and right border images are squares it doesn't work? Then those are misplaced...

I know about many (a tons) of bug for widget and icons when they arent the defaults (32-128 or other background)

When I will have much time to fix them i'll do, tanks, i've just added your info to my Todo list :)
I hope to fix this in 1.0.20

can you send the name of background which you are using?

Cool :)
Thanks for the quick fix. BTW, those were pretty much the defaults. Icon size was 32/128, and the background was "white". That happens with all other backgrounds, too, which have round edges.

Bye,
Jonas

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
