 bugs

Got the latest version. Running sk32b, python 2.2.2, MDK9.1.

I'm getting no movement, although the applications launch, and the text over the icons shows up as if the icons are moving, but I'm just not seeing it.

Get this error in a console:

Call to widgetUpdated failed
Traceback (most recent call last):

Hope this helps.

 newest alpha

I tried the newest alpha version (27092003) and it starts up (without giving me any error messages) but once it starts up it only loads 1 icon (the jaguar X) with the name of the application I last used above it, occasionally the icon flashes or dissapears, then reappears. I tried running superkaramba from konsole and from command line (alt+F2), both of which cause the same result. However, once when I was running it through konsole it actually opened up the menu (without background) where most of the icons were jaguar Xs however Kmail, K menu and Koganizer had icons.
My distro is slackware 9.0 and I use KDE 3.1 and my kde folder is /opt/kde

 29 works

just tried the 29092003 version which came out just a few hours ago and it works fine on my distro. The bar has a red outline around it, I liked the blue transparent background more, hope I can change that in the settings. I noticed that this version of the bar is faster than the pre versions and I like that. However, there is still a bug when if I already have a session of a certain application open, it will not open a new session but just activate the already opened one. Is there a way to fix it? And where did the pager go?

One more thing, many applications open themselves on top of that bar. Would it be possible to make the bar float to the top of all application windows if the mouse pointer touches the edge of the screen?

I can raise the widget but you will see the widget's rectangle over applications, i use to add a small panel of 48px on the sides, it will prevent to put all window over it, than over the bar.
I added some screenshots on my site.

Tips:
left button mouse run/raise
right button karamba menu
middle button will open the popup menu, click on "New: ..."

About the backbar try to add this line to osXBar.conf
BarTheme => transparent-blue

Just looked at your new screenshots, and cannot wait to get home and try the latest version.

I thought your 0.9pre4 was the ultimate "dock-a-like", but I think this latest development branch will be an absolute killer. Can't wait for the later releases.

 sry, 1 more ?

well, the newest alpha bar works cool and stuff and the calendar works the way it should, there is one small problem that appeared though. In the pre versions I could easily modify the bar settings and "reload theme" to apply changes, but all of the 1.0 alpha releases crash superkaramba when I reload theme. Also what happened to the extra settings in the config that were there before the 1.0 like icon size and size of text that appears above them, because my resolution is 1280x1024 and 32 icons look tiny, so I want to change them to 48 pixels. And the text that appears above them is huge, I want to shrink it to make it at least half the size it's now.

Change the icon size, it will be available on 1.0.4

osXBar don't support Reloadtheme, i don't know if will be.

 oooh, nice

1.0.3 is working much better. However, it seems to use more cpu than the 0.9pre4 (my current benchmark for this theme).

The ability to add commands to the middle click menu rocks.

I'd like the ability to configure the small/large zoom size of the icons.

We're making good progress here though.

Keep up the good work!

I've now tried it on my laptop, and it's kindof a cpu hog. Running at about 90% when mouse over, and about 45% when mouse is elsewhere.

Laptop is a pentium 3 @ 600mhz w/ 256MB Ram and mdk9.1.

I'm working hard to catch the "bugged" code, osXBar 1.0 with new engine will be faster, I tested it on my P3 800Mhz and there is a 40% CPU on idle, but it cannot be right because other times it's under 20%...
Try to move your mouse over on the osXBar 1.0 and 0.9, send feedback, remember to enable "fast image scaling"

I'll have to do it when I get home. But from memory, 0.9pre4 gives about 60-70% on mouse over, and 0-3% on idle.

The latest releases are giving 90-100% on mouse over, and 20-40% on idle.

There's no other debug info that I can give at this stage - although fast image scaling is enabled.

On my desktop (Duron 1.2Ghz with 256MB Ram), idle is much lower (0-7%), and mouse over seemed like it was about the same as 0.9pre4. However, it "feels" slower.

I note that the icon set I'm using doesn't have a 120x120 set, although the theme scales them to that size. Could this slow things down? I'd like to set the sizes to 32 and 64 for scaling, but the option doesn't appear to be there.

Sorry, I haven't tested 1.0.4, so I'll look at it again tonight and report results.

Matt

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
