Great work, but it fails on my computer... here is the output:

TypeError: unsupported operand types for +: 'NoneType' and 'str'

I know i need the xcursor lib, but that TypeError shouldn't happen... I checked and os.getenv("KDEDIR") is the culprit. Is KDEDIR always going to be defined?

I know that Mandrake 9.1 doesn't set this env variable. I've had similar problems being that Mandrake uses /usr/share/apps instead of /usr/local/kde/share/apps/ and there is also a library directory that is different. You could just set KDEDIR in your .bashrc to where ever your kde root directory is..
cheers,
-p0z3r

I have the same problem, but I am using SuSE 8.2. maybe this is connected with superkaramba version installed on the system...

You need to set the environment variable for KDEDIR (ie where the root of the kde directory structure is) in .bashrc. Also copy xcursor.so from the previous version of osXBar into the directory.

Woops, I'm getting the same error, and have KDEDIR defined in the shell I'm launching from, as well as xcursor.so in the osXBar directory.

This has been my favourite sk theme. Keep up the good work.

I get the same error except I also get a few other errors (they're warnings but if the pixmaps draw my menu all weird it wont look pretty so its as good as an error). Any of you found a way to fix it yet? thanks.

 Getting better

by Matti on: Sep 26 2003

Score 50%

Ok. Tried this out. Get much further than previously. No errors regarding KDEDIR (provided that I set the global variable).

It doesn't pick up any of the icons from the theme that I'm running. I get mostly "jaguar" flavoured x's.

Also, the zoom movement looks kindof chaotic. Not smooth and organised like the pre4 version.

Also, there's nowhere to configure anything. I presume because this is alpha that this will come. However, the code to pick up the current icon theme isn't working at the mo.

Keep going. This is such a great theme, I'd love for it to become better than the 0.9pre4 version (the best so far).

- ok for KDEDIR
- I'll add user icons path [setup manually]
- X jaguar is the default icon
- Zoom movement is not like MacOsX bar, i'll add some kind of movement because the bar may be everywhere into the screen.
- Configure work, it is working with defaults values to test it better
- The code to get icons path work on many distro, I get the KDEDIR than add the standard paths of icons /share/icons + THEME.

!!! I like to have feedboack on CPU usage!!! and If like the movement:
Ok now I now you don't like the Movement :)

 some bugs

 by R3N3G4D3 on: Sep 27 2003

Score 50%

the 1.0 alpha version won't work for me but I'm using pre7 iCal one and it works except there are a few bugs I found in it.
1.The date and time get updated above KDE Menu and not the calendar icon
2.The calendar icon appears whenever it feels like not when the the theme starts up
3.(not really a bug, just an annoyance)When the mouse pointer goes away from the bar but hovers over an application while the icon on the bar is still shrinking it will be stuck in that position, will get back to normal if u hover over it again though. (maybe getting the bar to auto-update every few seconds might help, but that might draw a lot of CPU resources)
4.When an application of that type is already open instead of opening new session the bar will bring the already opened window to focus, this is really annoying for things like konsole and /home folder which I usually have 2 or 3 on my desktop.
Aside from these bugs it's awesome, good job. I hope the final 1.0 version will work on my desktop unlike the alpha version.

I'm working ONLY on 1.0, Can you help me to know configurations of your distro?
Send email to:

Specify:
distro name
kde path
echo $KDEDIR
`kde-config --path icon`
and
the output of superkaramba when you run osXBar.theme

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
