Description:

Oxyfolders - Oxygen Extra Icon Folders

Quote:
Oxyfolders is just a little extra to complement the Oxygen Icon Theme, giving more personalization to the folders in your desktop.

This pack contains PNG 256x256 and looks nice from 48x48 to 256x256 (less than 32x32 don't), but you can find some minor graphic errors.

All artwork here is original from the Oxygen Icon Theme*, developed by The Oxygen Team and licensed over LGPL, and this pack is just a mixture of that work under the same license. You can found the Oxygen Homepage here:

http://www.oxygen-icons.org/

Oxyfolders 0.2 is made from oxygen-icons-4.3.98 (KDE SC 4.4 RC3) and you can found here:

http://kde.org/info/4.3.98.php

*Icons not belonging to Oxygen Icon Theme are extracted from places like Wikimedia Commons and used as LGPL. You can found here:

http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page

And for whatever about Oxyfolders you can contact me posting here, by pm or mail.

*Now Karmic Koala users can find a deb installer thanks to jmdsdf!.

Changelog:

Oxyfolders 0.2 - From now Oxyfolders are based only in PNG 256x256, straight to final user and no more buggy SVG, unnecesary in most cases.

Why do you release your icons in svg format?

He asked *why*, not what format :)
I think he meant that releasing in SVG would be better to resize for bigger or smaller sizes.

Ok ;)

Well, the original icon theme is not finished yet, and this icons I made maybe will be not necessary in a little time. When Oxygen will be complete, we'll see. If nobody makes extras before, myself will try to do a extra icon pack (PNG & SVG).

But meanwhile, this few icons are just for most perfectionists desktop users (like me xD); and I think that 256x256 PNG works great from smaller to bigger in Konqueror and Dolphin... as provisional measure, of course.

If you don't provide SVGs, it is a GPL violation, because SVGs (or CDR, or AI files) are the "source code" here. If you don't provide the SVGs, you have to either remove your icons from this site or change the license to something else, e.g. Creative Commons Attribution. (Yes you can offend the GPL even if you're the author!)

Yes, license should be LGPL or CC if wants just to share the PNG's. GPL is not so good for artwork because it adds complex for usage.

Sorry but I disagree with you...

The "source" of these icons is the PNGs that I made in my graphic editor when I mix the images. And the original source you can download from the link that I put up here with no problems. There's some icons (mac, windows, favorites...) not extracted from Oxigen theme... then, what we do? I say this is a transitional package just for helping people a bit, nothing more. Please, don't be so extremist.

PD: Sorry for not answer before.

In that case the source should be XCF or PSD.

That I know, Oxygen icons are only in blue. There's some packages in other colors?

No but you can play with colorize or some other colors settings in Gimp to transform the blue tint into another color ;)

I've done that once for the Crystal icon pack

I don't have any problem to color the folders, it's easy, but, if official theme is only in blue... for what?

If you want to make a mod for yourself, think, is a big work (not only this few folders!).

well, there is already some colored folders (red, green, purple...) and I was just speaking about adding some more colors (black, dark grey, pink...) for the folder icon (and not for all the icons)

but no problem, I sure can do it myself if I want :)

Ok, I understood that you want different colors for all folders, included folders with emblems (big work!).

To include different colors for folders is no problem. I'll add some in next upload ;)

I've seen the color folders already available and it's enough: blue, red, green, yellow, orange, brown, violet, cyan and grey. What other colors do you want?

Ok, I've added some new icons, included e-books folder (but still there's no good graphics for everything, and this could be a good example). Anyway, I hope you like it :)

Hi! Nice icons. Its a pity there are only 256x256 in size, because on Dolphin they are scaled (48x48 in my setup) and don't look very well. :S
However, thank for sharing. Hope to see SVGs soon :)

Hi,

For me there's no problem to make just some of these icons in svg (all from svg sources), and if Oxygen Team wants, use it in the official package, but I'm afraid the problem with this stuff is not only that.

The question with these icons are not the svg. SVG or PNG at 256x256 are more than enough for the bigger sizes, and even until 48x48 (on the edge 32x32). The question are the smallest icon sizes, all in PNG, because they need to be different redrawned, from 16x16, 22x22, 32x32 48x48... and I can't do that :(is a job for a graphic designer, and I'm not). For that reason, even with the svg these icons would be incomplete.

The best way to include some of this artwork in the official packages is to send a popular request to the Oxygen Team. You're editor, we can meke something about that? Anyway, I'm disposed to help to improve in what I can.

Regards.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
