 Icon change not working

by MelonBlue on: Nov 15 2009

Score 50%

Icon change seems not to work, at least not in Firefox where the rest (theme and font) does change though.
Except: I switch to oxylight, then the icons have the same ugly shape but are dark blue instead of this muddy green they are otherwise. For all the other icon sets, Firefox reverts to the default Tango ones that ship with Gnome.
Oh and to note, I have the firefox-kde thing from OpenSUSE on Karmic.

In Karmic at first run I had only KDE icons packs and I don't really remember if any of them worked at that moment with GTK apps. You'd better try to download GTK icons, put them into ~/.icons and choose them in app.

 Damage after uninstall

I've finally uninstalled kcm-gtk-kde4 from my system but QtCurve style was changed and now I can't return the original appearance of my GTK applications!

My question is: Do you tested the uninstallation at all??

The problem of Ubuntu package is "kubuntu-defaults" package, which makes QtCurve config load every time you login. And this config prevents working of gtk-kde4. Deleting "kubuntu-defaults" is really cruel step as for me. That's why I had to replace that config in "kubuntu-defaults" folder after installation, and return it back after uninstalling. For ubuntu it works, but in Debian there is no kubuntu-defaults, and installing don't replace anything. But while removing script inside deb didn't check if replacing was done and tried to delete non-existing file, what made uninstaller crash. Some hours ago I fixed it and now Ubuntu package version is 0.9.1.1 and it can be download by link at this page.

Hi, I tried everything you wrote, but package system says always the same:

freedom:~# LANG=EN_us apt-get remove kcm-gtk-kde4
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
E: The package kcm-gtk-kde4 needs to be reinstalled, but I can't find an archive for it.
freedom:~#

So how can I reinstall it and delete it?

This commands differs from those above:

sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/kcm-gtk-kde4.postrm
sudo dpkg --force-all -r kcm-gtk-kde4

or:

sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/kcm-gtk-kde4.list
sudo rm /var/lib/dpkg/info/kcm-gtk-kde4.postrm
sudo dpkg --force-all -r kcm-gtk-kde4

 not working for me

I compiled it on my 64bit laptop and after logout/login, nothing happens.
(Running Kubuntu 9.10; and I did remove the kcm-gtk thing).

I also manage to create a 64bit Deb, but since it doesn't to be working...

After a little searching, I found that manually running your app get this:

I have practice compiling packages (for PPAs too if you want).

 Buttons small, grey background

by juancho on: Nov 18 2009

Score 50%

hi !!

Very nice, thanks for this app. I just have two observations:

* Buttons appear too small, it seems their height is the same of the font of the text in it.

* The background of widgets appear grey instead of white, so it's hard to diference editable fields from disabled ones.

Leaving aside that it works pretty well !!

I'm on KDE 4.3.2 with oxygen theme on Mandriva 2010.

Thanks, I don't know if you have noticed, but the small button problem is just with buttons in HTML code, not with widget buttons in the applications, if that gives you a hint ;)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
