Updated:  Jun 22 2003

Description:

KSmoothDock 2.1nt patch. Added features:

-background stipple
-hand cursor (from mriya3)
-tooltips (from mriya3)
-configurable space between icons (it can cause "garbage" on the dock if too small)
-small bugfixes
-renamed menus and directories for better KDE compliance

You have to rename the ~/.ksmoothdock/menu directory to ~/.ksmoothdock/applnk and reconfigure ksmoothdock.

This patch will be sent to the original author, it will not be maintained as a separate fork.

This looks great! Why donīt you send this to the kicker maintainer? Perhaps it can be integrated into CVS?

Why don't you add support for 'real' OS X-like tooltips?

(windows-like tooltips don't look nice with this dock, imho)

That would be pretty difficult to implement. Maybe you should ask the KDE developers to implement those tooltips first :) There's already a patch that draws drop shadows under the icon text on the desktop, it could probably be extended to tooltips. I'll give it a try maybe, but that's pretty low on the priority list for now.

Hello all,
Put the .patch file in
ksmoothdock-2.1/ksmoothdock
then run
patch lessthansign ksmoothdock-2.1nt.patch

Sorry for typing it out but when I use the symbol it doesn't show up right...
I just installed it and it looks great

Hope This Helps...

This is the third message I sent you and I advice: itīs not the last!

I want to have this black Wallpaper (in the 1st screen shot)! Where can I get it???

Second question: how can I change the "K" icon of the Kmenu? I couldnīt figure it out.

Thanks in advance! :)

 Wallpaper

Sorry for the late reply, you can find the wallpaper and a few more over here:

http://www.sadeem.net/tux.html

To change the KMenu icon you have to replace kmenu.png in your default icon theme. I've just replaced the 16x16 icon and I kept the original tux'n'tosh icon for the other sizes, so I've replaced the ~/.kde/share/icons/Aqua/16x16/apps/kmenu.png file.

Good luck :)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
