 small suggestion

 by muhulu on: Jun 17 2003

Really nice job :)
Just a couple of questions. The zoom looks kinda weird to me. Why do the other icons move away when there is enough space to zoom the icon? There's a huge gap between them.
Second, is it possible to make the battery status more accurate? maybe with a transparent battery and a background with a variable height? This can be used to calculate the battery lifetime in hours:

awk -F\ '/present rate/ { PRESENT = $3; } /remaining capacity/ { print $3/PRESENT } ' /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state

Unfortunately I don't have any clue how to do this in python :-/

Bye,
Jonas

I cannot understand about the gap, but I'll write the right code for the battery checcking using your code.

well, about the gap... the zoom looks pretty for 128px-icons...however, try setting the zoomed size to 48px.
power = os.popen(SysBatteryCmd,"r")
overTextStrings[SysBatteryIndex] = string.strip(power.read(1024))
karamba.changeText(widget,overText,overTextStrings[SysBatteryIndex])

^ that works for me. The script now looks like this (I renamed it to current_power):
#!/bin/sh
STATUS=`awk -F\ '{print $2}' /proc/acpi/ac_adapter/AC0/state`
if [ "$STATUS" = "on-line" ]; then
echo "Connected to AC"
else
echo `/usr/bin/awk -F\ '/present rate/ { FOO = $3; } /remaining capacity/ { printf "%.1f", $3/FOO } ' /proc/acpi/battery/BAT0/state`\ hours\ left

 Always on top

This is the best osx-like bar, but like all the other osx bars mine doesn't seem to be "always on top". But I imagine that even if it was, I seem to have a portion of the background on top of the other windows. I take this is the active "karamba region". To sumerize it seems that either the osx bar:

1) Is not always on top
2) Or if it is, osx bar runs in a defined region which shows the desktop rather than the top window

Is this right?

 image size in 0.9pre

When a task is added to the bar, the icon isn't resized to 48x48 (my small icons size). I've tried to work out why this isn't working right, but I'm not getting very far.

Any clues?

It's a Superkaramba 0.26 bug, use osX Bar 0.9 pre2 or Superkaramba 0.27

Cool. Will do. I've not upgraded, because it doesn't play nice with some of my other themes (and the api's for 0.27 aren't available, so I'm not sure how to fix them). NEway, I'll upgrade, and deal with my other badly behaving themes.

I like your bar very much, probably one of the coolest thigns done with KAramba, though the icons don't look too good when zoomed up max (since they're not svg) its still very good.

I'm running SuSE 8.2 and I do have a problem, for some reason the text gets cutoff when I'm hovering over the icons.

What happened to the round background ? I think it looked much better, and had a closer resemblance to MacOS X.

Check the Configuration file: kroller.conf [until 1.0]
you can select the kind and color of background

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
