Description:

A widget style for Qt4
- Pretty configurable
- More Mac than Windows - but no clone at all
- Don't ask me to port Baghira ;-)

As for what to do with GTK+ applications, have a look here:
http://arch-stuff.org/content/show.php?content=134123

It suites the default look pretty well. Set the "Default" titlebar background colors to 239/239/240 and the text to something dark/gray.

Thalics complete Bespin Guide is afaik still down, sorry :-(

 A new fan ;).

Strangely, Oxygen has always been slow on NVIDIA. I really thought that slowness was because of my puny IGP. But I tried Bespin... and my perceived speed skyrocketed. Not only programs are much prettier, they are much faster. A LOT much faster.

With a request for you to save Oxygen from NVIDIA oblivion, I thank you and cheer you up. Keep up this kind of amazing work!

What to like about Bespin:
1. X-Bar.
2. The blue titlebar on Google Chrome / gray titlebar on everything else. THIS is how decorations should be done.
3. The Bespin way to disable a button. You don't fade it, you don't gray it, you blur it. I can't see clearly the disabled options, can't be distracted by them, and I feel more comfortable overall :).

 Delay before opening submenu?

by eric on: Sep 4 2010

Score 50%

Hi,

Bespin is good as it is and I like it a lot.

But I have a request that maybe you can implement in bespin.
Can you put a delay before a pull-down (sub)menu is "opened"? The default should be 0 (no delay). But for people like me that have big pull-down menus (many bookmarks) and also use eye-candy (fading in and out pull-down menus) it can be practical to choose a slightly longer delay to avoid opening a submenu when the mouse pointer stays too long at the wrong menu.

Keep up the good work!

this behaviour is actually "legally" controlled by the style - custom values are between 96ms (motif) and 256ms (windows) ... i picked 96ms ... ;-)

just added a key, so adding "Menu.Delay=n" to ~/.config/Bespin/Style.conf will allow you to control this, no idea whether there'll be a GUI option or what it will be like atm...

 Cannot build from svn

 by mw007 on: Sep 5 2010

Trying to build from svn at revision 1222 fails for me.

The following pastebin contains my complete build output: http://pastebin.com/qwvMqKwj

I am using KDE-4.5.1 on Kubuntu 10.04. Is there any more info I can give in order for someone to help me out?

The problem seems to be that Xrender is not installed. I have the libraries for Xrender installed, but I cannot find an executable named Xrender.

Thanks in advance!

Got this to work. After reading the INSTALL file, I found that I did not, in fact, have kdelibs-dev and kdebase-workspace-dev installed.

Worked like a charm after that!

Now on to the config... ;-)

 Inverted Dock in Dolphin

Since your last commit log says you're waiting for complaints, I think it should be configurable at least... :)
(I, for one liked the "broken" behavior of the dock/places view)

hehe :-)
you'll hate rev. >= 1224 then (try anyway, comments are welcome)

I'm currently looking to get some visual structure into the dolphin layout (it freaks around with the "status"- and "tool"bar and "moves" them inside the dock area layout what results in a somewhat unaligned look :-(

currently on 1228 (probably missed some :) ) and i like the way dolphin looks now :) (apparently no more inverted docks :P )
I'd like the same configuration options for the active tabs as there are for the buttons / droplists, but i don't know how hard that is to implement

Yup, and shape maybe? (just like the buttons have the option of being rounded like the combobox, or not)

that comes from the fact that i like the way sunken, connected buttons look with UNO, and the whole look kinda becomes inconsistent in the tabbar...

 Views colors on dolphin

by linuxfever on: Sep 18 2010

Score 50%

Hello,

I am using latest revision 1231. I have noticed in dolphin, that I cannot configure anymore the color for the header view. In fact, it is always the same color as that of the alternate row. Perhaps a bug?

Also, the rectangle surrounding the location bar and the scale of the icons used to be the same color as that of the window which (imho) gave dolphin a consistent look. This however has now changed. Is there a way to configure it back to the way it was?

Thanks!

In fact, if I remember correctly, there was no such rectangle in previous revisions.

I'm currently experimenting a bit with the dolphin layout (the original may feel "constistent" but it for sue tends to "disalign" :-( (in particular with "normal" sunken placesviews and because of the "weird" tabbing support)

last rev. has a key to control this behaviour but no GUI item so far and it defaults to true for the moment.

add "Hack.DolphinIconViews=false" to prevent the unification of urlnavigator, iconview & statusbar - but also feel free to comment on this =)

Hmm, where do I have to add it? I tried first exporting my current setting, adding the "Hack.DolphinIconViews=false" and then importing it back, but it does not seem to change anything...

... by purpose. hacks are never ex/imported.

Just edit ~/.config/Bespin/Style.conf
[Style] section and add the key somewhere there.

Notice that _all_ dolphin windows by default run in _one_ process and you need to either launch a new process (just "dolphin" won't do, you must pass "--nofork") or get rid of all running ones to have this change applied.

Thank you very much! Now it works. To be honest, I love dolphin like that and I believe it would be great for the user to have the option to change between the new and old layout.

By the way, I believe your theme is by far the best out there!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
