Description:

Hi guys, this is my first mockup.

+++++UPDATE:+++++
I have the mockup redesigned. I agree, that the first one look too filled.

Now, the design based on another kde mockup (see below).

the four icons are "actions" which can be defined by every user. Here it is chat, send a mail, send a sms (like in kaddressbook) and see the kaddressbook entry for this person (it will appear like in the second screenshot)

The Tabs are online and offline users (for example send an offline user a sms without opening kaddressbook), and the menu, which would have the same style like the buddylist.

In my opinion it would be nice, if kopete would be more lika a whole communication center, than just an instant messenger *g*

+++ END UPDATE+++

I just want kaddressbook to be more integrated in kopete. Clicking on the arrow on the left sides open the menu shown at the image.

I hope you like it. I use kopete all day, and all my kopete contacts are linked with my addressbook. So for me it would be very useful ;)

This artwork is based on the wonderful KDE mockup by eriol (http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Kde4+Mockup?content=28476)

And I'm sorry for my bad english ;)

I find it somehow too "filled" with informations. We may hope in a lightier and more comfortable way to represet informations in kde4.

Why should this not work with 100 contacts? the full view is not the default. default is a little line...?

better, but now to less in formation for me :D

i like the "detailed" view of the actual kopete pretty much, because of the user picture and not to many info :)

The detailed view with pictures is no problem. The raw for each user could be a little bit bigger with picture instead of the smileys and the away message under the name. ;)

i think the info beside the picture would be better, if it fits...

which comes the idea from miranda...

make an option where the user can select which information is displayed (you can do that for tooltipps already) :)

I'm afraid that won't be kopete in KDE4.

Kopete is intended to follow the KDE rules and as KDE won't follow that path organizing windows and info Kopete won't even be near of that.

Anyway, is a good design for a IM so SIM or other Jabbers can follow you approach. I'd be one of their users if they do so. Especially the expand user to get send/call and so on seems very reasonable (ICQ do that actually).

I like especially the standard view. I do hope we can have something close in kde4.

Hi!

I think this looks great. Problem is, it has to be done following the KDE HIG guideline and using the style. We can't have one application looking completely alien. So some of these ideas can be done (eg the expanding info stuff) but others (removal of menu) aren't smart, usability wise.

Anyway, you might redo them, following the current KDE HIG-in-progress: http://wiki.openusability.org/guidelines/index.php/Main_Page

Then you can try to contact the kopete developers, see if they are interested. You can contact them using their mailinglist (adress is on kopete.kde.org), and explain what you made and of course attach the mockups.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
