Description:

Skulpture is a GUI style addon for KDE programs. It features a classical three dimensional artwork with shadows and smooth gradients to enhance the visual experience.

Skulpture has been designed to be light and easy on eyes; many distracting borders or graphical elements have been removed or replaced by simpler artwork. See NOTES and README for additional information.

Skulpture is released as source code under the GNU GPL version 3 license; see INSTALL for installation instructions and COPYING for additional information.

Gentoo build kindly provided by Franz Fellner, Thanks! For binary packages, please check with your distribution.

 My thoughts about it

by deniseweird on: Jun 20 2008

I just compiled and installed this theme. It looks quite nice, but I can't pick the window decorator in Systemsettings (KDE4), it's not available as an option. When compiling I didn't see any hint of anything missing, and I have that workspace package you mentioned. A part from that, very good work indeed! I am using it right now and will test it more.

Hi deniseweird, thanks for trying Skulpture. If the window decorations are missing from System Settings, you have installed the Qt-only version of Skulpture. Make sure the KDE 4 headers are installed, and the PATH variable contains the KDE 4 binaries.

A common fix on Ubuntu is to invoke the installation using

PATH=$PATH:/usr/lib/kde4/bin sh install.sh

Please paste output of "sh install.sh" if you are stuck.

Yes, it works! The problem will probably fix itself when KDE4 gets mainstream (= installed in /usr/bin), but it works for now. I think I noticed a bug though. The scrollbar in konsole looks weird. I am using KDE 4.1 Beta.

Everything else looks good so far. I will report if I find anything else. I am glad I can help with this! :) This is my little way of contributing since I can't code myself, hehe.

Just an identical GTK theme would be nice for consistency, hehe :D

Regarding Konsole's scroll bar: Please try version 0.1.3. And I am still awaiting your report/help/contribution ;)

Thanks,
Christoph

... that this theme isn't for KDE 3.5.9.

It is absolutely beautiful.

Thanks SpecKtacle, I know how you feel, but KDE 4.1 is nearing, and I wanted something different than Oxygen. Make sure you do not miss the release, current trunk is very good, I hope they do not ruin it before the release :)

 Great stuff

Hello there! At first, as we talked over IRC, I didn't like Skulpture's look because of the square buttons and the wide scrollbar. Then you gave me some tips on how to customize those things and maaaan, it got nice :)

Compiled it without any problems on my Bluewhite64 with KDE 4.1 beta2.

Keep the good job going :)

 Help with binary packages

by skulptor on: Jul 15 2008

Score 50%

Recently I added a RPM binary package for Fedora 9, created using the build service from openSUSE. Since I do not run Fedora to test it, I am interested in your feedback.

But I still have not managed to create binary packages for other common distributions:
  • RPM for Mandriva 2008
  • DEB for Ubuntu/Kubuntu/Debian
  • ebuild for Gentoo

  • If you feel responsible for creating packages for these or other distributions, please contact me. I am able to host files/repositories on my site.

    Thanks for your help.

    Gentoo ebuild:

It just uses cmake, so no explicit dependencies to kde4, this will be detected by CMake.

Franz, you are fast :) I added your ebuild file to this site, so others can use it later.

Thanks, and nice photos you made :)

How do you like Plasma 5?
     The best KDE Desktop ever.
     Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
