This theme can fetch news in rdf format from any website and put in a panel in your desktop. You can also set your favorite image on top. When you click over a new, konqueror opens its url. If you click over the image, the site is opened. Suggestions, comments and bug reports are welcome.

Changelog:

 RSS feeds in general

by wytbox on: Apr 27 2003

The rdf.pl script is generally great...I built a reader for my favorite news site, The Register (http://theregister.co.uk) with it. The only other thing needed is a list of RSS feeds...and a very good list can be found here:

http://lists.eazel.com/pipermail/nautilus-list/2001-May/002852.html

I can post the Register reader if anyone wants it,but you can add a new URL to news.theme faster than you could download and untar my file, frankly.

 Error...

I got the same error. For me, the problem was that rdf.pl is not in the path. Changing line 174 in news_panel.py to read

texto = commands.getoutput("./rdf.pl " + url)

worked for me.

I think you haven't read README. You should do that, it explains news_panel usage :)

I have the same problem. I have the rdf.pl in the correct directory, I've even tried copying it to every sub-directory in the theme just to make sure it was where it needed to be. I get this problem with almost every news theme I try, except for Glas.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
