Description:

t was april 2002 when I first started designing a little 48x48 icon and published it at kde-look.org.
It was an alternative “trashcan" for KDE 2. Since then I’ve continued designing icons and started many themes to increase my skills and improve design quality, these were: "Desktop icons", "Sky", "Lush" and finally "Nuvola".

It tooks me more than a year to reach version 1, the more professional, consistent and complete Nuvola theme ever released, it will turn your KDE in an eyecandy colourful desktop.

If you never tryed Nuvola what are you waiting? give it a try! For the others waiting this release since a long time… download Nuvola 1.0 now!

Have fun and enjoy your desktop!
David Vignoni

 icon stretching

 by leif81 on: Aug 22 2004

Score 50%

I've noticed that the KSystemTray stretches the icons from their actual 16x16 icon size to 24x24 causing them to appear poor quality..especially noticable is the Klipper and Kopete icons...they look fuzzy.

I looked up the KSystemTray API and it looks like it's trying to display them at 24x24 (http://developer.kde.org/documentation/library/3.3-api/kdeui/html/classKSystemTray.html)

Maybe you could release a 24x24 size as well?

Or maybe you know what's actually going on.

love the icons

I looked into the KSystemTray API a bit more...it seems the icon being loaded into the tray is indicated at application level. Thus being the reason why some systemtray icons appear to be crisp and others not i.e. Klipper, Kopete

From what I can tell this is more of a KDE bug then Nuvola problem ;)

 KDE Errors

First of all, let me say that your icons are the greatest. I like them very much.

But I've been getting errors in my .xsession-errors file. The error is:

kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /home/eric/.kde/share/icons/nuvola/ group not valid.

Do you know what could be the cause of this?

No I don't know. It is a well know bug and I think it happens with user installed icon themes.

Ok,so i installed Nuvola as root and set all permissions as needed. Now i get
"kdecore (KIconLoader): WARNING: Icon directory /usr/share/icons/nuvola/ group not valid" in my xsession-errors.And load of icons are missing,i mean there are icons that must replace a default crystal but they don't... Very sad, man,i love Nuvola so much.

this is a known bug and still unsolved.
I think appens to all icon themes installed by user.

This is what Linux needs. Superbly done. Complete in almost everyway and methodically clean and crisp.

A truely outstanding job Dave. Thank you.

I hate it when people ask this question, but... what font (and font size) are you using in that screenshot? I looks good.

Thanks for the awesome icons!! Great work!

it's gentoo "Sans Serif" and I suspect it is the Bitstream Vera Sans font.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
