Description:

This is a set of widget styles for Qt4/KDE4, KDE3 and Gtk2 based apps.

0.49 is the first version to have a Qt4/KDE4 port. This version may be compiled with just Qt4 - in which case the KDE4 control panel config dialog will not be built. See the INSTALL file for more details.

The fonts and colours for the GTK themes will be read in from your Qt settings - so any KDE font/colour changes will also affect your GTK apps.

**NOTE:** The Gtk3 release has been removed, as the Gtk theme API has changed!

NOTE: kde-look.org had a server crash, and the original QtCurve entry was deleted.

Changelog:

KDE4
====

1.8.14
------
1. Fix loading of kwin decoration/config under KDE4.9

KDE3
====

1.8.5
-----
1. Allow scrollbar sliders to be as thin as 5 pixels. At this setting, sliders will be squared.

Gtk2
====

1.8.16
------
1. fix memleak with newer versions of cairo.

It is possible, that shadows appears also under popup menus? It might replace kwin shadows effect.

 Image background bugs

by airdrik on: Mar 21 2011

I've been playing around with using different images for the window background (some examples: http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php/DomQT?content=139732 http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php/Textured+Gray?content=140094 http://opendesktop.org/content/show.php/Textured+Tan?content=140090)

A bug that I ran into is that when you select one file for the background (and apply it) then select a different file for the background, it doesn't actually switch the stored image. The workaround is to delete ~/.config/qtcurve/style-bgnd-img.* then go in and pick the new image.
A couple of features which would be nice: scale image to window size (may be infeasible due to cpu usage) and tile image.

I'll look into fixing the set image file bug.

As for scaling the background - not gonna happen, would be too CPU intensive (as the scaling would happen twice - once for the style, and again for the window decoration).

You can already have a tiled background image - its just in a different setting! Select 'Tiled image' from the 'Background appearance' combo - then click the wrench icon to specify the image filename.

Ok, thanks for the reply.
I tried out the tiled background, and that works fine, but still suffers from the same won't-remove-the-file bug as the other setting.

 weird problem

Hi! I have a weird problem. I don't know if it's a problem with a specific QtCurve theme, my computer, or some bug in QtCurve.

I downloaded this theme: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/zukiblues-like?content=139856

I imported it in QtCurve settings, and here's what it looks like: http://i55.tinypic.com/2167nm.png

As you can see, the window decoration is very wrong. I've noticed that some other QtCurve themes like CurveDomina also have window decoration problems :( What should I do to fix it?

This theme works fine for me. Have you checked your titlebar colour settings in the colour control module?

Thanks for the reply! I use the color scheme downloaded together with zukiblues. And it seems it's not just a color problem, the buttons are wrong, and window border is wrong too. Could it be because I'm using QtCurve from the PPA where it was compiled for KDE 4.5, while my KDE version is 4.6?

Did this happen after switching the "Window Decorations" theme to use QtCurve? I experience a similar bug every time I first switch the titlebars to QtCurve, but simply running "kwin --replace &" fixes it right away. (I only have to do this after first switching-- in subsequent sessions, QtCurve loads properly.)

 Button size

I have been using Bespin since the early days of KDE4, but decided to give QtCurve a go and must say that I am really impressed by how highly configurable this theme is. Excellent work.

One thing I may suggest adding, is an option to configure the width and length of the toolbar buttons (for the case when they are "raised" or "raised and joined"). I noticed that these buttons are a bit wider in Bespin than QtCurve.

Is there any option to change that?

Thanks

Problem with kwin and bg image

 by nick87720z on: Mar 25 2011

Score 50%

Hi. I noticed this bug when tried to setup transparent texture, adding brushed metal like look, keeping same color.

When this is enabled, background color is not drawn for decoration - there is just emptiness, completely transparent area. In order to avoid this, i have to use opaque image, snaping self and users for one color scheme.

For example, try this texture:
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=140214

Open source in gimp and just disable background layer before to export png or jpg.

Packages:
kwin-style-qtcurve and kde-style-qtcurve 1.8.5
gtk2-engines-qtcurve 1.8.6
qtcurve 1.8.5

Currently i have these two themes, where opaque image is used (though in first, for popup menu, transparent version is used):
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=140215
http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Production+Curve?content=140246

(Forgive me if this has already been addressed; I searched the last few pages of comments for "kpackagekit" and came up with nil.)
When using the QtCurve style, the info pane in KPackageKit is not redrawn properly when clicking a package. I took a couple of screenshots to illustrate what I mean:
1) what it looks like: http://i.imgur.com/TwR61.png
2) what it should look like: http://i.imgur.com/HvDFw.png
Resizing or moving the window causes it to update correctly, but this is a bit tedious. :\

I tested several different themes (Default, Flat, and a custom one) and they all exhibit this behavior. I'm using the latest version of QtCurve (1.8.7) on Kubuntu 11.04 (but I experienced the same issue on 10.10).

Many thanks for all your hard work on the best style engine in existence! :D

This *looks* like a KPackageKit issue. I've tried with; windows, cleanlooks, plastique, and bespin. All these have the *same* problem.

When QtCurve is set to use background gradients, then the problem disappears. (This is probably why oxygen is ok - as it always draws a background gradient).

I think you should file a bug report against KPackageKit.

(Also, the text for the 'Install' / 'Remove' buttons just looks wrong when they are pressed and the row selected)

Ahh, my mistake. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. In case anyone's interested, you can follow the bug report here: https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=35788.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
