Description:

Navigation buttons, path-bar, reload and stop buttons are placed on the new Navigation Bar.

Navigation Bar supports both auto-completion and clickable-path feature.

The path-bar has got clickable path.

All parent folders are represented by buttons in the path-bar. The current folder which is represented by a textbox. You can click any button to change to that directory DIRECTLY.

The path-bar has got two modes :
1] Clickable Mode : All parent folders are represented by Buttons while the current folder is represented by a TEXT BOX.
2] Edit Mode : After clicking on the Text Box you can now edit the entire address and can make use of the auto-completion feature just like the normal location-bar.

You can drag and drop these parent-folder buttons into the Tab Bar to open new tabs with that location. Right-clicking this button will open a context menu which will cantain a list of sub-directories. Select any of the sub-directories to change to that directory.

The drop down menu is having a tree-menu structure. By default it can show four “Recent Locations” items.

The “Find Box” is for finding items in the currently selected item in the tree-menu.
For example, you select “Bookmarks” form the tree-menu. Then type the text which you want to search in “Bookmarks”. Then those locations in the Bookmarks sub-menu matching the text will get highlighted .

The reload and stop buttons can be moved next to the navigation buttons. Clicking on the "Location :" label can also make the path-bar switch to edit mode.

The first button is a special one. It also contains the root folder “/ ” button. But this button is highlighted as a separate button when we hover over it. After clicking this button the entire path is in edit mode. This means that when the current folder is the root folder “/ ” , the entire path is in edit mode.

Such navigation bar maybe usefull, but it should not prevent the old-way navigation.

 Great idea

This idea is simply awesome. It adds a lot of functionality to the navigation bar, without preventing the user from using the "old" way of navigating.

 Bad split

Hm, the normal way of splitting the path would be / folder/ folder/ folder/. This would also save us from the "root" hack.

I think this gets a bit too complicated for the average user. I like the idea in the second image though (the drop done menu).

Damn you man! This is until now the best idea I've seen for KDE4. Keep up your work. I hope, that the KDE-Team will take your idea for the/a new navigation bar. It'll make the navigation very easy.

*ThumbsUp*

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
