Description:

"KDE Spectra" is my idea of how the next generation KDE should look like.
I am introducing a new concept which I am calling as "Context Tool Bar".
I have also included an idea wherein selected files should have an "open-with-this-app" buttons. For example, mp3 or audio file icons can have the xmms or noatun icons on them when selected. Then just press the corresponding app's button to open that file with that app.
I have created the folder icon.
I hope you like it!

Wow I didn't notice those icons the first time I glanced at the pictures, but then I read your comment.
Yeah that's an awesome idea one of the best I've seen yet. It could of course be extended: adding extract icons for archives and adding application icons for mime-types (e.g. kaffeine icon on movie files). This would rock!

yes, the idea of having those small icons is wonderful

but that bar above the window with files, i think it takes too much space from screen...

but quite good ideas, only transform look of that upper bar

wrapping the folders captures very well the idea of icons + karambe = Plasma

In fact I think you ghave adapted the RealPlayer10 GUI on Windows to make it full-screen, with detachable/collapsible panels.

It seems ideally suited to people who want to 'live 24/7' in the music in their computers but a geek like me wants to work also and only have the music as invisible background :)

this is better than the music gui ;-)

i think this idea is not bad - not bad at all. the multi-functional area under the menu is a wonderfull idea - imho this could be used in more apps than just konqi.
and the way you did buttons on icons is cool, too.

i think you have a great idea here, i hope kde4 will use some of your ideas.

continue to improve em, i think getting rid of all the transparancy would make the pictures more acceptable to many ppl here.

 good design

great idea, these little "action" icons. they take away much space, though. in general, I like the overall appearance of the application. the menu bar, etc. look very pleasant. you should definitely contribute to kde-artists even if this particular idea is rejected. I think KDE 4 should look more professional than it does currently (more friendly colors, more gradients, etc.)

 Konqueror Treeview

by vladc on: May 23 2006

Score 50%

You mockups are missing Konqueror's tree view, which shows the hierarchy of folders. The tree view appears on the left side and is extremely important for general usability.

Other than that, everything looks great! The most likely place to be implementing this style is in the coKoon theme engine, which will be the default in KDE4:

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
