This is my idea of a new Konqueror in KDE4.

The desing is based in this mockup:
made by eriol:

I have done an HTML&JavaScript preview of the mockup. You can see it by clicking in "Homepage" or "download" section.

The explanation of this mockup is in "download" section too.

- Make a preview of a splitted window to see how it looks.
- Make a preview of the audio collection (like amaroK, should be the same).
- Show the files containing in the TAR file in the right "info" column instead of the big icon.

More ideas? changes? improvements?

- Added a "Clear location" and "Go" buttons in the location bar.
- The float menu is vertical instead of horizontal.
- The "Up" button appears in web browser mode too.
- The "Refresh" and "Stop" buttons are the same: when the page or document finishes loading the "Stop" button becomes into "Refresh" button (the same behaviour as Opera, that works perfectly).
- Added a "my Home" button in the specific bar in file browse mode.

- Initial release.

 my home button

I'd change the location of the myhome button, it should be near the different arrows since it doesn't have anything to do with the different view modes.

I love the idea, but it is very similar to W1nd0w$ Vista, especially the design of the buttons and the location-bar (don't know it's name). But, who knows, maybe M$ has stolen your design (would not be the first time...)

I just can tell you that I knew nothing about the design of Windows Vista when I did this mockup.

Yeah, I believe you, I was just kidding and afaik the Vista-design was in March 2006 a different one, I'm not sure...

As long as I can still right click on the toolbar-thingy and say "Configure Toolbars", so I could add and remove buttons and drag them around, I'll be happy.

This is an excellent design, well thought out, and the best HTML+Javascript prototype I've seen.

Glad to see this mock-up back. I'm a newbie but it looks very easy to use and quite beautiful.

I really like your Idea, expecially the menu, but can you put on each tab a close button. I like this feature like in firefox.

I think that button should be implemented widely to all KDE apps using tabs, so it's not necesarry me to implement it in the mockup (it could be optional).

Anyway I prefer to close the tab with the middle mouse button, but understand taht a common user could not find this method.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
