Description:

This is my idea of a new Konqueror in KDE4.

The desing is based in this mockup:
http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=28476
made by eriol:
http://www.kde-look.org/usermanager/search.php?username=eriol

I have done an HTML&JavaScript preview of the mockup. You can see it by clicking in "Homepage" or "download" section.

The explanation of this mockup is in "download" section too.

TODO:

- Make a preview of a splitted window to see how it looks.
- Make a preview of the audio collection (like amaroK, should be the same).
- Show the files containing in the TAR file in the right "info" column instead of the big icon.

More ideas? changes? improvements?

Changelog:

VERSION 1.1:

- Added a "Clear location" and "Go" buttons in the location bar.
- The float menu is vertical instead of horizontal.
- The "Up" button appears in web browser mode too.
- The "Refresh" and "Stop" buttons are the same: when the page or document finishes loading the "Stop" button becomes into "Refresh" button (the same behaviour as Opera, that works perfectly).
- Added a "my Home" button in the specific bar in file browse mode.

VERSION 1.0:

- Initial release.

 Looks good

Workplaces is a great idea and I would definitely be for puting something like that in KDE4. Also the sidebar layout with the file previews looks pretty good too.

And the simpler layout could be good too, but only as an option available when you first log in asking if you want a simpler view or not because I would miss all the extra features.

Great job on the preview page too.

Hi, what do you mean with "simpler layout"?

After looking at it again I guess everything is still there, just in some different places. I guess that it just kinda looked like something was missing because it wasn't as cluttered :)

I'd say Konqueror 4.0 should be like what you made there.

Absolutely amazing work. I love it and wish I had this on MacOS X, Linux, and Windows XP. Heh.

Nice work on the javascript example btw.

Looks nice, but I find it hard to imagine how it would look if you used the split button, or if you opened one of the sidebars.

Could you make some more pictures of the idea?

But you can NOW open the sidebar tabs and preview the behaivor of them, so?

I'll try to do a preview of a divided window as soon as possible.

 Wonderful preview

I saw this last night before bed... but wow, I can't stop playing with the preview! :P It's nice to have something to play with instead of just screenshots for a change.

I know nothing of how QT4 works, but a lot of this seems very out-there. Oh, it would be so nice to have...

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
