SKY icons 0.7.3
Little update
Added konqueror, opera and kmail icons.

SKY icons are a new 48x48 icon theme for KDE 3.x.x.
Folders and mime icons aren't based over default KDE icons.
It looks clean, pretty, simple and not boring.
This is iconset is completely made from scratch with the Gimp.
I'm not supported from anyone so I do it only in the free-time.

SOFTWARE

The Gimp : creation and manipulation of icons.
ImageMagik : conversion and scaling.
Sodipodi : creation of wide icons.
KDE 3.0.3 / SuSE 8.1 : authoring platform.

I REALLY love your icons. I wonder, could you make them in higher resolutions though (including the old folders - I prefer those)? It seems as though 48x48 is just too small these days with most people using 1280x1024 as a resolution or even 1600x1200. That's why I use 72x72, but I'd love to use your icons. Just a thought/suggestion. AWESOME work!

just get yourself glasses and 32x32 is fine.
If you run 1280x1024 on a 17" crt then it's your fault.

Really, 32x32 is enough if the resolution fits to your display

You don't have to be rude about it. I run 1600x1200 on a 19" CRT and it's not that I can't see smaller icons, but the larger (64x64/72x72) icons look better. I'm sure a large amount of people agree considering if you look at the icons here on KDE-look.org many come with sizes up to 128x128 now. Besides, it was just a suggestion - it's not like I was demanding he do it or anything.

Just ignore him, he's an obnoxious prick. I used to like Kopete, till I seen numerous rude comments on their forum posted by him. I think he has little man syndrome or something.

The old icons are there (look in file systems > "old". I love those too and made them standard file system icons immediately.

I think to do also some apps icons,
i was thinking icons for xmms, kmess,
blender, gimp etc.
In my computer I've also done a new
exec icon, that will be shipped with
the next version.

I really like your work - I think it's the best icon theme for KDE so far.

However, my very personal opinion is that your old folder icons are nicer than the new ones. Don't get me wrong - your new folders are great too, but I think they somehow lack the originality of the old folder icons.

As you provide the old folder icons in the tarball it's not a problem to revert to them manually. However, this involves some effort on the part of the user and quite a few people would not even be aware of the possibility. So could it perhaps be an idea to submit two tarballs for your next release - Dave's classic and Daves modern?

Just a thought, and keep up your good work.

Now with the new release, I've changed also the devices.
If you want, enter in contact with me if you want be the
manteiner of the old icons, I won't work on them anymore!
I could provide you all the sources and icons.

Well, I'm one of those guys who just take advantage of other people's efforts :)

I think your icon theme improves for every release, so for the time being I think I'll just copy your old folder icons into your new releases.

Don't get me wrong, your new folder icons are great. I just happened to fall deeply in love with the old ones :).

Very good job! These icons must be included in kde 3.1! You just need to make some kde application icons and toolbar icons and that's it.

I really like new device icons. They are better than the old ones! Maybe you should change the hard disk icons, 'coz they are too small.

Of course, HD icon, is the next one
I'll upgrade. Then I have to complete
all the mime-types, change some of
icons (ex: sources icons).
After that I'll do apps icons and
probably actions.
