Description:

I got inspired by some plasmoids mockups I saw while surfing around.

The content frame is part of the windec. The borders are larger than the usually so thin and unreachable borders --Usability!-- but they don't look so.

Please note the styled menu button. The usual icon never reacts like the other buttons so I replaced it. (This is optional.)

Changelog:

0.6:

- Double click on menu button now close the window.

- On request, the windows can keep their round corners even when maximized.

- Config dialog re-worked. There's room for some more options.

0.5:

- Shaded windows are now more compact and looking better.

- The buttons glow the same way on active and inactive windows. That's also looking better.

0.4:

- KeepAbove and KeepBelow now have a different icon when activated.

- Button icons slightly changed --for the best, I hope. Old buttons are still available. (See README.)

These are really great mockups. I hope someone, somewhere will make them. They would beautify desktops around the world.

There is a reason why I used the word "project": It's because I'm working on this windec.

The design is settled. I'm working on the buttons. The engine will be an adapted version of one I already wrote. It's the week-end.

Monday? Is that soon enough? ;-)

I'm thinking about it... Maybe... I don't know... ;-)

Well, a matching theme would be really nice IMHO. Give me some time (a lot!) and I'll see what I can do. There is that style template on my harddisk, I was wondering why.

 Glow..fade in

This is pretty nice and clean. One thing I think you're missing is a fade in to the glow instead of an instant state change as it is now.
Smooth Blend uses this so you can look at the code to do it. Plastik also has it.
Keep up the good work!

cheers,

Well, I looked at the sources of Smooth Blend and I don't think that will be possible. The buttons are images built once for all, according to the defined colors and melt with the background. There's no place I could insert a fade() or intensify() in the process... unless the buttons get re-built on the fly. That's not an option. Each button requires a (huge) lot of work.

I improve my engine with every windec I write but I'm not ready for a progressive glow... yet. Maybe my next windec will have blinking or even animated buttons but not Powder. ;-)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
