Description:

I decided to remove the links to this project as I cannot stomach Windows(R) clones proliferating here, and hope that doing this may set an example. Do not copy! Create! I apologize for posting this originally, and hope the community can forgive me.

 Put it Back ON

by umaiku on: Jul 9 2006

Finally a good reason to move to Linux! People working under Window$ keep using the excuse that Linux is not user-friendly enough and that they are used to the Window$ look. With this people will stop using Window$ and with time, maybe even change to a REAL Linux theme. I really think you should put it back online or at least send me the files. I have some friends that might change the way they think about Linux once they see this!!! We should help people moving from Widnow$ to Linux to do smoothly, especially when they are not used to using anything else than Window$...

Come my children, and I will show you the path to your freedom: Linux

While I personally despise Windows, Linux is about choice. With that comes the ability to choose to style your Linux desktop in a manner that makes you feel more at home and eases your transition to an open source operating system. I think you should post your links and if the elitist purists don't like it, then I suggest they simply not download them! Why let a few vocal a$$holes in the community affect your project? Remember, Linux is about choice.

People... Linux is NOT a desktop theme... People who decided to change to Free Software world will be not for a Desktop or Style theme... The difference is much, much important than that...

 Its not about choice

Its about copyright infringement. Some of the artwork may be cnosidered copyrighted. The laws are a little blurry, but sites have been shut down in the past because of copying the visual look of an OS---remember the StyleXP Aqua theme incident. I have kept the link online at "geocities.com/arenyart" if you still want it. I just don't want it here (on KDE-look.com) because I think it is the wrong place and don't want to chance it. It has little to do with elitism and more to do with keeping this site free of any legal problems. KDE-look should foster creativity not mimicry.

 Considerate

you are a very considerate person, and I admire you, usually I would come in with all guns blazing about someone creating a Windows theme on KDE-look, if you think about it Windows should be shut down with all of the stuff it has copied, it copied The Start menu off Mac, DOS off IBM even Tabs of Opera, don't concern yourself with copying Microsoft, because if you think about it, they probably copied it of someone else :)

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
