Description:

Window Decoration Generator

0.5 New! Added wheel event support (contributed by
Knut Morten Johansson, many thanks), fixed a few outstanding bugs, and bumped template to 0.2 including a complete images change. Read the ChangeLog!

0.4 adds a new configuration dialog to the generated window decorations as well as colorizing support (See screenshot 2).

With 0.3, decgen brings full automation to KDE window decoration generation. Prior to 0.3, after generating the header (super.h), it would have had to be integrated into the source tree manually. Now just run automerge and build your tree. If you can build a mockup, you can build a window decoration.

You'll need png2qrgb 0.3 and the decgen 0.4 download. And decent gimp'ing skills. ;)

Pay attention to README, CREATE, and COLORIZING within the decgen distribution. Any improved documentation, script hacks, or engine improvements, send them along.

Thank you come again.

Created the pngs by hand from screenshots on deviantart.com of the element window decoration.

Thanks for the comments, what changes did you make to the script?

Well, I am trying to make one, but it isn't really as straight forward as I had hoped. The template buttons are all one size, what if you want to make a different shape/size? There doesn't seem to be anything in the documentation about it. Also when making rounded corners on a windec, would you leave to rest of the .png transparent?

For the buttons, I would keep the height of the biggest button to be less than the height of the titlebar. Other than that, size is up to you. Alter the button sizes of the template and see what happens.

For rounding corners and transparencies (like the third screenshot) you have to adjust the masks by hand. Its up to you whether or not you want to make the png transparent. For reference I would, but the masks are handling transparencies. (FYI masks are handled and documented in your kwin/packagename.cpp file).

So after you came up with the images, did you run generate_header.sh and merge it with tiles.h?

You *did* read the documentation right?
;)

no.. I actually merged it with tiles.h.stripped.. like the documentation says..

Quote:(Now rip out the bottom 26 lines from super.h (the image names) and insert
between lines 21 and 22 of kwin/tiles.h.stripped.)

I will try remaming it just tiles.h ...

In the docs there isn't the step on
merging with tiles.h .......

Ya, I changed the tiles.h.stripped file, then renamed it tiles.h..

This time it builds but then crashes control center when I try to load it..

Is there a limit to the widget size?

I tried making them 16X16 instead o 14X14.. Is there something that must be edited to change this.. or doesn't it just use whatever you give it..

Your installation is missing KDE's development packages:

>test.h:49:25: error: kdecoration.h: No such file or directory
> test.h:50:32: error: kdecorationfactory.h: No such file or directory

Should be included in the kdelibs-devel package I think. Check YaST for KDE development stuff.

sudo make install or as root, make install...

then if you're happy, run "make distclean" and tarball or zip it up!

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
