KDE4 Brainstorm

Description:

This is a mockup, obviously. I tried to obtain something a bit more polished than what we can see today on our desktops.
I focused on a new style (if anyone is interested to code it tell me since I can't code) and on the way a filebrowser could work.

(the only artworks not by me in the pic are the icq and jabber icons, I wish to thanks their authors)

 Must be a theme

by DrROX on: Aug 5 2007

I think this light and smooth mockup needs to be made real after KDE4.0 final release. Lot's of mockups on this site are based on Eriol's mockup, so I think someone should start a website, or found a groupof developers, that will make this real visual style. It would be a nice alternative to Oxygen.

 Implementation?

This seams very cool, but what is the state of the implementation?

Still only an idea?
Development began to include some of the ideas in KDE4?
Have you contacted Plasma/Dolphin/KDE4 developers to know if the development will begin shortly?

Oxygen and nuno's latest mockups looks much better than this IMHO.

 still hoping...

This is the vision all mockups of kde4 are judged aesthetically by. As the oxygen project moves on, I hope the artist will make an effort to bring it to the final kde 4 desktop. I think a great insight in this design is the task-centric organization in the application launcher, i would really like the "raptor", and "kickoff" teams to take some cues here. I am very fond of this vision of a gui.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
