upon switching "Session" type to GNOME with this splash screen enabled (at least, the one that came with Ubuntu 6.06), GNOME doesn't go beyond loading Metacity and the panels blink like crazy.

I know I should probably expect this out of a KDE splash, but would it be all too hard to put a little line in the theme that says:

if(UserUsing == GNOME)
{
Don't_Load();
return;
}

?

Its just an idea.

Hi, sorry i'm a noob -
new to linux and new to SuSE.

Could someone please tell me where i can find information on how to install the moodlin engine? I tried forlloing the instructions as posted here: http://www.kde-look.org/help/index.php?type=35

got nothing but an error saying "Could not load theme configuration file."
I'm running 10.1 with KDE. I'd be really thankful if someone could shed some light on this matter.

Many thanks.

Many thanks.

Do the following to install The Moodine Engine -

download the compressed file,
extract it anywhere you feel like,
open the termial, and move to the directory where you extracted it,

now become root, by issuing the "su -"(yes there is a dash at the end "su -"

now not type -
./configure
(lots of output)
make install
(output)
and that it your are done!!

Ok, so, I extracted, and this is what I got when I tried those commands

solus@maktub:~> '/home/solus/Desktop/New Folder'
bash: /home/solus/Desktop/New Folder: is a directory
solus@maktub:~> su -
Password:
maktub:~ # ./configure
-bash: ./configure: No such file or directory
maktub:~ # '/home/solus/Desktop/New Folder/moodin/configure'
/home/solus/Desktop/New Folder/moodin/configure: line 877: test: /home/solus/Desktop/New: binary operator expected
/home/solus/Desktop/New Folder/moodin/configure: line 883: test: /home/solus/Desktop/New: binary operator expected
configure: error: sources are in /home/solus/Desktop/New Folder/moodin, but `cd /home/solus/Desktop/New Folder/moodin' does not work
maktub:~ #

Any suggestions? I have already checked that the required devel packs are, in fact, installed...

Thanks in advance for any help...

you need the X and KDE devel packages which contain the header files. (depending on your distribution, the names can vary).

I followed the instructions above and they worked however it took several tries before kde recognized that the engine had been installed, if someone can shed some light it would be appreciated.

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
