Minimum required   KDE 3.4.x
Downloads:  134324
Submitted:  Mar 23 2005
Updated:  Dec 17 2007

Description:

KDM Theme manager is just what it says a theme Manager for KDM.
This control module allows you to easily add, remove and select any KDM theme you want.

to install:
./configure
make
su -c "make install"

To run kdmtheme simple open K Control Center and go to System Administration
There you will find KDM Theme Manager

Enjoy!

Packagers, if you want your package listed here, email me or post the link in the comments.
Please note that only the source packages come from me. I do not know if any of the other ones will work or are valid.
A Kubuntu package is now in "Universe" so look for updates there.
Gentoo ebuilds are in portage.

********
KDM Theme WILL be included in KDE4!
The integration has been completed and committed! as of 10/16/2006

Theme Designers please make sure to include a KdmGreeterTheme.desktop in your archives. Failure to do so may cause your themes to no longer work in KDE4!!

Changelog:

2007-09-28 (1.2): Backport of the KDE4 version
2007-10-08 (1.2.1): Fixed a porting bug where the selectionChanged() signal was never connected correctly.
2007-12-16 (1.2.2): Actually save things... (I am quite embarrassed about this one..)
Enable saving when you only disable themes. (emit the changed signal)

Could you, please, fix the Gentoo download link for version 1.1.
Unfortunately it gives a 404.

 Gentoo ebuild 1.1.0

hello,

as the link for the ebuild of version 1.1.0 does not seem to work, i tried a workaround:

  • i took the one for version 1.0.1 (guessed that there must be one :) )

  • renamed it to kdmtheme-1.1.0.ebuild

  • put it into my portage overlay

  • downloaded the source file for version 1.1.0 from above and stored it in /usr/portage/distfiles

  • ran ebuild /path/to/ebuild digest

  • ran emerge =kdmtheme-1.1.0

the output was the following:

Calculating dependencies ...done!
>>> emerge (1 of 1) kde-misc/kdmtheme-1.1.0 to /
>>> md5 files ;-) kdmtheme-1.0.1.ebuild
>>> md5 files ;-) kdmtheme-0.9.1-r2.ebuild

!!! If you need support, post the topmost build error, NOT this status message.

maybe the author or somebody with more experience about portage/ebuilds than i have can say something about the error?

that would be great and help other users, too! thanks in advance, pir187

Just rename your kdmtheme-1.1.0.ebuild to kdmtheme-1.1.ebuild and it should work. ;-)

Sorry about that. forgot to check my links. Would have fixed it earlier but don't have too much time anymore.

I don't like having a trailing ".0" unless it's in the minor position such as 1.0 or 2.0 etc.
1.0.0 just seems silly to me and it'd be odd IMO to have 1.1.0 if I didn't have 1.0.0.

Sorry for the confusion.

you don't need to apologize as your tool really offers a great service to the community (of kdm users)!

thanks again, pir187

Only way the themes would be disappearing is if you inserted them instead of installing them. I pointed out this in the description above and warned you about it.

try:
./configure --prefix=`kde-config --prefix`
(I think prefix is /usr/bin in Mandriva? (run kde-config --prefix if you want to check :P)

Good luck!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
