Description:

This is a Keramik style&deco. with transkicker-keramik.patch (by teax).

I have made the TARBALL version of 'transparent keramik' for every distribution.
(See http://www.kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=2193
for the RPM/SRPM version of 'transparent keramik'.)

--
[preparation]
$ su
# tar xfz *keramik.tar.gz
# cd keramik

[modification] (optional)
# bunzip2 transkicker-keramik.patch.bz2
# vi transkicker-keramik.patch
(change 'panelOpacity = 7*0.1;'
at line 192 to your taste.
default=7, semi-transparent. :)
# bzip2 transkicker-keramik.patch

[build]
(!! You need kdebase-devel, kdelibs-devel, and automake >= 1.5 !!)
# ./build_trans-kicker.sh
--

That's all. Have a nice day~ :D

automake>=1.5 is needed and i have automake 1.6 so it should work.

And yet :

*** YOU'RE USING automake (GNU automake) 1.6.
*** KDE requires automake 1.5

what shoul i do ? Do i have to downgrade to version 1.5 ?

I get the same problem:

*** YOU'RE USING automake (GNU automake) 1.6.2.
*** KDE requires automake 1.5
*** Error code 1

What's up with that?

Hi,

I try to install the Keramik theme, and although I've set the KDEDIR to /usr I keep having the following msg :

checking for KDE... configure: error: in the prefix, you've chosen, are no KDE headers installed. This will fail. So, check this please and use another prefix!

KDE3.0.3 running Debian 3

Any idea ?

 LFS Transkicker

Just a note for folks who roll their own Linux and others on the bleeding edge: If you're using the current version of Automake (1.6.2), you'll need to edit keramik/admin/cvs.sh and put your version number in the "case $AUTOMAKE_STRING" section.

" automake*1.5* | automake*1.5-* | automake*1.6.2 ) : ;;

Works like a charm. The transparent panel is my favorite eye-candy.

Is the only way to change the transparency of the kicker is by changing the .patch file and recompiling?

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
