KDE SVG Gearflowers

Gear-flowers and a hummingbird (I've always wanted to do the gears-as-flowers theme). Large svg, takes some CPU power to render.

Renders fine with inkscape and sodipodi; renders kinda slowly with svgdisplay from kde3.3; renders *slowly* with librsvg 2.8.1.

0.1 : first public version, a bit rough around the edges.
0.2 : various de-uglifications applied to gears, flower parts, branch, birdie; redid the wing motion swoosh; slight internal xml restructuring.
0.2.1 : emergency de-uglifications applied to flower1-2
0.2.2 : emergency de-uglifications applied to flower1-3 : oops, the previous de-uglifications were misapplied. Fixed now.

If this is rough around the edges I'd love see the polished version. Amazing originality. Most of the entries are for the most part what I expected to see but this piece is a welcomed change of pace. This one should be a finalist consideration. well done.

For Linux to catch up to Microsoft, Linux Development would have to stop all together and regress. - Donald Ade'

Excellent art, good originality but there are too many elements for a wallpaper, it becomes too distractive.
Don't get me wrong, i like the art, it's very well done, but you have to adapt the art to the kind of work it's destined.

It was intentional. I thought many other svg wallpapers were simple and business-like, so I wanted to put a gaudy piece on the table.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
