It's come to my attention that Zeus is starting work again on Gartoon and should be releasing a new version not to far down the road. Once released I will start again on the set and hopefully be able to fill some of the gaps...




Changelog:

v1.3 - More icons added & updated. Full PNG version is now avialable...

v1.2.1 - Working on finishing up the Action icons. All View & Window icons added, among others...

NOTE: It seems I have mistakenly removed the redo icon from the actions folder. For a quick fix go into Gartoon/scalable/actions and copy as-new "rotate_cw.svg" to "redo.svg". That should fix the problem until the next release. Sorry for the trouble...

v1.2 - Added several new Action icons, cleaned up the Kmenu and split Gartoon & Gartoon Blue into two different themes.

v1.1 - Updates, Replacements, & Additions.

v1.0 - First release! Ported from "Gartoon
v4.5"

The iconset didn't work for me, besides, erased all my desktop, i had to reboot the pc to fix it.

How can an icon set erase yr desktop?

Anyway, to install it by hand, extract the archive and copy it over to: /home/$USER$/.kde/share/icons

Or for system wide installation copy it to: /PREFIX/share/icons

I have the same problem. But not the solution.
My KDE crash after install Gartoon, when I launch konqueror.
It must be a problem of my compilation of kde.
I'm using Gentoo, with kde3.3.1 and the gentoo ebuild from f10nk of Improving KDE.
What do you use?
... sorry for my poor english.

I'm using Mandrake 10.1 with Kde 3.2, and still crashs my session. I don't know what can be, but, it happens right after the icon instalation. When i uninstall it, everythig is back to normal.

It might be that Mandrake's version of 3.2 doesn't agree w/ pure SVG icon themes.

I have never heard of it crashing a session before, but I have seen kde 3.2 have trouble displaying SVG icons.

This is why i posted the Icons as dependent on KDE 3.3.x.

If I get enough complaints and a mirror, I will post a PNG version. Untill then I'm sorry, but there is not much i can do.

There use to be a script floating around on kde-look that could be used to convert SVG icons to PNG. I suggest maybe giving that a try...

I can't get over how ugly your added K button is. Since that's the only added one I've seen, it's likely the rest of them are untrue to the original work, too. The port is much appreciated, however, and I'm sure you'll fine tune them :) GL!

The K Menu button icon, came from an MIME file type icon. I didn't make it, I just adjusted it to fit.

Anyway, I kinda like it :)

Not sure what it is exactly that you two don't like about it, because you really have said? Criticism w/ a purpose would be more helpful, don't you think?

What I find not to like about it, is not the icon it's self, but how kde/ksvg displays it.

If you view the icon while it's on the Kmenu or in Konqueror, the drop shadow looks to dark and ends up making the icon like skewed. Not flush!

Now view the same icon using Rox-Filer or Nautilus and everything looks as it should. The drop shadow being nice and transparent...

Problems like this is the reason why there are not many true SVG icon sets for KDE and also the reason I have had to use png's for a couple of the icons in this set.

 Yes, unity is alien technology!
