Description:

Exquisite is a port of the Xp_Mad icon set created byMimin Ladha. Additional icons by Ghast (action icons) were added to complete the icon set, but additinal releases will follow. This icon set uses a modified version of the build script created by Nick Bargnesi. As a result, the download is only 2 MB instead of 10 MB(Yes, I still have love for 56k users). The only tools required to create the entire icon set are bzip, tar, and convert (ImageMagik). Unpackage the Exquisite.tar.bz2 compressed file and run the included script buildset (./buildset - for newbies). Afterwards, use the Kcontrol center to install the icon set. Please provide some feed back about the icon set. I hope most people like it. If not, give me a good vote anyway :-)

Changelog:

Added a link to download an alternative Konsole and Xterm Icon - Removing the C: - you guys really do hate Microsoft don't you.

Try installing image magic. I think convert will be installed with it if not, I'll do some more investigation and report back later.

i really like the icons and i think its nice that you think 56k people, but it would be nice if you also think of the people that DO have broadband, but DO NOT have time to bother looking for some extra tools included in some extra package, that has dependencies requiring more extra packages, of whome i maybe dont want any....
anyway would be nice if you could provide an out-of-the-box-package, too.
thanks and keep up the good work

 I could do that but

One reason why I haven't just posted the complete icon set is the script. It allows user to choose the icons that they want to use for their distribution (Mandrake, Redhat, etc). I personally run mandrake, but there are icons included in the set for numerous other distros. If I packaged one set, many people might never take the time to personalize the set to their distribution. Who wants a Mandrake star kmenu icon on a SUSE desktop. By downloading the kit, users also have a chance to change the default icon selections for applications, folders, devices..etc before building the entire icon set. This Icon set doesn't include a large number of icons for various distributions, but my next release, H3O, will contain icons for Mandrake, OSX, BSD, Redhat, SUSE, Debian, and several others. Personalizing that icon set will be must.

 Dependencies

I am aware of the potential dependancy problem you could run into if you don't have the three required tools natively installed. However, the compression tools are bundled with every distro, and ususally installed by default. Convert can be a different story. It is usually installed with ImageMagick so I can understand if someone is having dependancy problems with convert, but, if you post your problem, I'll try to help you get it installed. If you built you linux desktop from scratch this may be a more difficult process. If you used one of the distributions, there are a number of software instillation tools that I can point people to that should handle most of the dependency problems.

 Nice

Nice icons :-)

One thing that jumps into my eye: the konsole/xterm icon has a "C:\" in it.

It would be much better, IMO, to replace it with something more Unix like, e.g. "~!$" (Prompt for normal user in his home)

Kind regards,
Stefan

 New Konsole comming

I'll update the set tonight with an alternate konsole icon for all those that hate the C:\. I'll also post a link to the icon for those that have already downloaded the icon set and just want to replace the icon without re-downloading the kit.

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
