Please consider a small donation (1$ goes a long way) via PayPal to "alecive87@gmail.com"

************************************************

This is a port of AwOken icon theme on KDE desktop environment. It has all the features provided by AwOken iconset, i.e. a script that lets you to choose between a lot of cool customization options (see the README PDF file for further info). The only differences are in the customization script, so please feel free to report any bug you'd find.

WORKING EXAMPLE -> http://alecive.deviantart.com/art/kAwOken-for-KDE-preview-215233801

************************************************

Before asking, if you have any problem, run at least once the customization script, and TAKE A LOOK AT THE README FILE!!!

************************************************

QUICK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS -> You can choose between:

PPA modality:
1 Type in a terminal window:
* sudo add-apt-repository ppa:alecive/antigone
* sudo apt-get update
* sudo apt-get install kawoken-icon-theme
* kawoken-icon-theme-customization
2 Follow Instructions

WARNING: with ppa subscription you can always get the newest version on your machine. But to see the improvements, you have to configure (or re-configure) at least once the iconset either for clear version, or dark version, or even a colored one.

DeviantArt download modality:
1. Download the archive from the deviantArt page available by clicking on the bottom-left button.
Extract the archive you downloaded, then System Settings -> Application Appearance -> Icons and click the Install Theme File button. Then, click the "Open file dialog" button on the right of the location text entry, select the kAwOken.tar.gz file in the "kAwOken" folder you just extracted, and click the "Ok" button. You have to iterate this procedure both for the kAwOkenDark.tar.gz archive, and the kAwOkenWhite.tar.gz one.

2. Open a terminal/konsole (or whatever you prefer) and type:
* cd `kde4-config --localprefix`/share/icons
* sudo cp -p kAwOken/kawoken-icon-theme-customization /usr/bin
* sudo cp -p kAwOken/kawoken-icon-theme-customization-clear /usr/bin
* sudo cp -p kAwOkenDark/kawoken-icon-theme-customization-dark /usr/bin
* sudo cp -p kAwOkenWhite/kawoken-icon-theme-customization-white /usr/bin
* kawoken-icon-theme-customization
3. Follow Instructions

RECOMMENDED PACKAGES

To exploit full power of customization script, you need zenity (optional, used to see the GUI - in a next future I'll port all the script to kdialog) and imagemagick (mandatory, used to color icons). If you use Debian-based distro, they're in repositories.

************************************************

QUICK CUSTOMIZATION INSTRUCTIONS

If you have follow instructions above, you have only to type in a terminal window:

kawoken-icon-theme-customization

And follow instructions provided!

As I can suppose, you're running the script with sudo or some root privilege.. if so, and since nobody told you this, please run the script as normal user! :)

If not, post the whole terminal output ;)

PS: don't post comment twice.. I answer to either!

 Quick instalation incorrect

Hello,
I really like this theme. Keep up the great work.

But there is an error in your instruction of how to install this theme. Your Quick Installation Instruction says:
"1. Download the archive from this page (top-right button) and install the theme as usual (with proper KDE tool)"
Well proper KDE tool doesn't recognize the package as a correct icon set. The archive have to be extracted to '~/.kde4/share/icons' directory in order to work.

Then "cd `kde4-config --localprefix`" command does nothing (at least in my distro). Later commands should be executed in the folder I gave above.

It's quite strange. I'm not a proper kde user, so I needed help to get my iconset working. But the command "kde4-config" was told to be working correctly in all kde distro! What's your distro? And could you please post the output of "kde4-config --prefix" alone? If this doesn't work, neither the customization script could work on your machine! :(

Anyway, the text you quoted is an error in the description: you have to download the set from the proper page on deviantArt! I've already updated the description.

But even downloading the set from deviantart the tool doesn't recognize the iconset? I'm sure I tried on my kde partition and it worked!

Hello,
I'm using PCLinuxOS distro.
1. 'kde4-config' alone does nothing that I can see, 'kde4-cofig --prefix' and 'kde4-cofig --localprefix' all work - they move me to proper directory (/usr and ~/.kde4 accordingly). It's the 'cd' before them (in the installation description) that gives error "unknown file or directory"

2. I've downloaded the archive from "http://alecive.deviantart.com/art/kAwOken-244166779" page (first source from this site) - right top corner of the age, 26,7 MB zip file with "kAwOken" folder and "clear" and "extra" subfolders, all the scripts and instruction in pdf format.

3. I tried to install it with System settings from KDE (default tool to install all kind of themes, icon sets etc.). I don't even know if there is another way except directly extracting archive to proper folder* (which I did since first method didn't work). Why the default method don't work is beyond me unfortunately :/

*proper folder for icon set is '~/.kde4/share/icons' and not '~/.icons' as pdf file suggests (I think it was meant for Gnome though)

1. cd is a common linux command that should be available trough different distros. It moves you to a proper directory. in this case kde4-config --localprefix should return either ~/.kde4 or ~/.kde4 (depending on your distro), so cd `kde4-config --localprefix` should move you to one of the directories previously listed. Anyway, you're right since there's a bug: you have to type

cd `kde4-config --localprefix`/share/icons

The artwork description is already updated.
Does it work on your machine?

2-3. You're right for this issue. Now I'll update the description and the package to get a working iconset (the problem is that deviantart doesn't want .tar.gz files, but this is the only extension that System Settings accepts! :(

4. You're right for pdf file, but I haven't already uploaded yet :) Maybe for the next 1.0 (most likely 1.1) version! :)

Once again thanks a lot for your great work :)

Anyway, maybe you're right: you typed wrong! In your previous comment you wrote "kde4-cofig" and not "kde4-config" :)

It is a pity that you as the founder of the given icons be the supporter proprietary licenses and roughly break by the own words the license specified publicly.
Has stated a negative estimation not to icons and you personally.
I consider that the world of Linux not for you

Go to Win.

I will not use any more the given icons and to recommend them. Good luck

Obviously it's not a problem of licenses, anyone is free to use them and to release any version of them.
Indeed, there are a lot of works based on my iconset and I have no problem with them.

But the only thing I really hate is when someone send me a mail telling that my iconset is not working, even if I know that it's not true. For one mail, it's no problem, but when the mails become 3 or 4 or whatever, I start to be annoyed. Expecially when I figure out that these plaints are related not to my work, but to another identical work based on my iconset.

I repeat, it's not a matter of license (I really don't care about this), but a matter of principles: why releasing an iconset that could be easily done with my script and releasing it without modifications? There's no reason!

Anyway, I know you hate me now but I think I have explained myself quite clearly, so I hope you understand my point of view. My position is different since I really love your other iconsets (expecially the faenza debian swirl, wich I used for a couple of weeks), but some time ago I decided to not let any mere copy of the iconset anymore, since I put efforts on these projects and I try to mantain a high quality standard, so I get angry when my efforts are copied and I receive a lot of plaints about someone else's release.

You a hypocrite? Then explain to me, interrelation to that you have written also themes of icons under the name "Awoken-dark-MOD". "MOD"! Do you understand me?

Moreover, I specify changes and base a mod. If you are written by someone (though at all I do not understand it because easier to write to that who has placed on a site) it will be always... as with those who asks the same questions at forums.

And the last. Mod it was created for that period, there was no yet a dark theme of icons. However, me all the same. Mod has removed. Your problems - it is your problems.

The problem is that we not agree about our idea of MOD: what's your MOD? What is your contribution to the project? What's your improvement?

This is the problem: you stated that you did a MOD; you stated also that "there was no yet a dark theme of icons". But it's far from being true: the dark theme was already available, it's only a matter of playing around with the script.
And if someone doesn't want to waste time, there is a nice working example, and a lot of desktops using it, so it's quite simple finding some sources of inspiration and some help!

The problem is only this: you stated that you did a MOD, but I disagree.

Moreover, sorry but I didn't understand this sentence:
"
Moreover, I specify changes and base a mod. If you are written by someone (though at all I do not understand it because easier to write to that who has placed on a site) it will be always... as with those who asks the same questions at forums.

No. All the matter is that you agree with one license, and demand De Facto performance another. And it's very bad. Over

Palimpsest and xsane are already done (why you asked for them? :) ).

For krusader, I should have fixed from the next version.

I did on the fly the icons for scan-gui, kmahjongg, kajongg, peazip, expoblending, fatrat, rapid-photo-downloader, knemo, teamviewer [even if I don't know if it will work], gweled, muon, mkvinfo, mkvmergeGUI, super-boot-manager, xcfa (but you have to wait the next version).

Unfortunately, fotoxx will not change, since the .desktop file associated to it doesn't point to a system icon, but to a specific icon located in "/usr/share/fotoxx/icons/fotoxx.png" [If you read the Installation_and_Instructions file, you easily find it by yourself :)]. The same is with retroshare (that search an icon in "/usr/share/pixmaps/retroshare.xpm").

Moreover, Yahtzeesharp is written in mono, and I'm afraid there's no way to integrate well in your desktop. Similar problem for ogsmahjongg,

A question: when you told about shishen-sho, what did you refer precisely?

PS: did I miss something? :)

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
 It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
 Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
 Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
 Gnome 3 default shell is much better
 I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
 None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
