Description:

This item is a part of Steam-Powered Linux KDE theme set.

The idea is to apply steampunk style to every themeable part of KDE-based distro. Any constructive feedback is highly appreciated. I will try to implement your propositions/fix bugs once I have spare time.

Parts of this set currently available:
Plymouth:http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/SteampunK+Plymouth+Theme?content=146030
KDM: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=142139
KSplash: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=142138
QtCurve: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=148276
Dark color scheme: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/SteampunK+Color+Scheme?content=148277
Light color scheme: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/SteampunK+Light+Color+Scheme?content=155868
Wallpapers: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php/Steampunk+Wallpapers?content=149320
Plasma Desktop theme: http://kde-look.org/content/show.php?content=157926

You can see KDM and KSplash demo video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f3ubaXe8wDE
New video will be recorded as soon as the majority of work is done.

KSplash theme notes:
You may encounter weird grey dots during first time you run this theme. It happens when KSplash engine resizes PNG images with transparent pixels on the fly. After resized files are cached, these dots will disappear.

Changelog:

01/15/2012. Added QtCurve and Color Scheme to theme set. Updated appearance of KDM and KSplash themes

10/15/2011. Added Plymouth theme to theme set

This looks awesome. I had no idea KSplash was capable of anything like this. It makes me wonder why the hell there aren't more themes of this caliber. Keep it up!

In fact KSplash abilities are quite simple. It just plays animation frames based on parts of PNG file. In addition to rendering animation, I had to write scripts that created such PNG files for each animated element. In fact, I wasn't even sure, that KSplash will be able to play such huge files fast enough to be useful. I reduced number of colors to 256 in animation files, so they occupy less space, while trying to keep their original look. Now you can see the result :)
It took a lot of my spare time, but I hope the result worth it :)

Truly amazing work!!

It takes less time to take the time to do it right the first time, than it does to fix it the second time.

Finally something with not just a new background for the regular splash. :) Been irritated a long time nobody has made something unique since KStarboard! Thank you, very fresh work, IMO well worth you efforts! :D

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
