 KDE Bluetooth?

by CraigD on: Jul 5 2004

As this is a KDE site, why not use the KDE bluetooth framework?

I use gnome-bluetooth because still there is not even a beta release KDE Bluetooth (only CVS)

That cvs version is running fine here...

I use it with Debian SID.
for your sources.list:

deb http://www.stud.uni-karlsruhe.de/~uddw/debian ./

There's no beta version because it's part of KDE 3.3. CVS is still good though, and integrates very well into KDE, check it out.

kdebluetooth-0.0.cvs20040302-3mdk.i586.rpm from Mandrake 10.0 runs perfectly with my Motorola V600 Cellphone on my DELL D600 laptop.

The version of this software does not reflect the quality of this software which is far better that it sound like.

I think V1.0 would be more appropriate as I've not been able to find any problem wile using it up to now.

In order to make things work I did:
- installed bluez packages
- changed name in /etc/bluetooth/hcid.conf
- restarted bluetooth
- installed kdebluetooth

nothing more and it worked perfectly :-)

Mandrake 10.0 includes kdebluetooth in contribs, and that works fine ...

in modern distro's, kdebluetooth works fine, even better than Gnome's version.

For suse 9.1, use the rpm from ftp://ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/applications/kdebluetooth-0.0.cvs20040713-3.i586.rpm , SuSE 9.2 comes with a up to date version.

Same goes for mandrake.
