Why all this? If the sender's e-mail program uses common RFC standards, the notification should show regardless of the language of message: the field "In" (which account has new mail) and then for each new letter has 3 fields: "From" (The email of sender), "Subj" (Subject of mail), "Date" (Date of receipt). If the sender's e-mail program does not comply with standards RFC, then the notifier gives a mixture of English and html. Note that the plasmoid does not receive the contents of the letters, but reports, that the mail server has new messages only .
Jovie really can not parse the text in the standard case?

You just need to properly configure the filter settings in Jovie for KNotify.

 PyKDE4.akonadi

I'm getting the "module PyKDE4.akonadi isn't available" error when trying to change the akonadi mail check settings. I'm quite sure it is installed with the package "kdebindings-python" in Arch Linux. Package list here:
http://www.archlinux.org/packages/extra/i686/kdebindings-python/files/
Any ideas?

Thanks for a quick fix!
Another glitch: when using Akonadi, hovering over the mailcheck icon will always show 'no new mail', even if there is new mail. Also, the amount of new mails does not appear in the icon.

It`s not glitch. For these accounts shows the number of new messages is not implemented.

Try to make a workaround:
insert the string "from PyQt4.Core import pyqtSignal" between lines 23-24 at AkonadiResources.py
(search in ~/.kde/share/apps/plasma/plasmoids/kde-plasma-mail-checker/contents/code/)

maybe you need to install pykde4-akonadi package? but plasmoid must work even if this pakage don`t present in system.
And, pls, demonstrate error fully. And check correct installation (clear old version & install new).

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
