 Looks good but...

by ltmon on: Aug 16 2004

Score 50%

I'm running SuSE 9.1 with kde 3.3 beta. The dock starts up looking OK, but moving the mouse onto it causes some weird behaviour. The parabolic zoom seems to start below the visible area of my screen, and only at it's highest point do any of the icons become visible (the top half of the icons come into view). Even then they are not responsive to clicking. Once in a while, for some reason, it will work fine. This behaviour doesn't seem to change no matter what configuration I use.

Any ideas about this issue?

Thanks,
ltmon

Same thing happens to me on RH9 and FC2, using the KDE 3.3 RC. I find that it works okay if you set the small icons to the same size as the large ones and don't hide the taskbar ... but that misses out many of the coolest parts, unfortunately.

 Kooldock Over Panel

by jaugen on: Aug 16 2004

I use Kooldock over the panel, both with the same transparent background color. This way I can use my System Tray and CLock and run Kooldock as well. With this configuration, it would be nice if there was a way to offset the center of Kooldock.

 FC2: not working.

Hello, The koolbar 0.3 does not work in FC2.

Error list:
------------

1) koolbar starts lower than the screen
2) sometimes items do not pop up when you hover over the bar
3) sometimes hovering over the koolbar does not activate it

Those are the three things I noticed. So really its un-usable in FC2. I didnt play with it long, although it is a good idea.. it just doesnt work on fedora core 2.

Oh im using KDE 3.2 as well.

Do not try, do or do not.

 Fault in Mdk 10

by swed on: Aug 18 2004

I use the rpm version for Mdk 10 and the 0.3 version is much worce than 0.2 version.
When it starts, it's brightness is very light and it's extremly slow. After while is normal again, but I can't use it with this behavour.
When I change the desktop by means of the mouse wheel, the background of the kooldock stayes like the previous desktop and it looks very ugly.
Since last version there should be the screenshot of minimised window but it doesn't work.
I use the 0.2 version, 0.3 is worce.

 Very Very nice

Very nice, just what I have been looking for. I am running Gentoo 2.4.25-ben1 on a TiBook G4. It fits.
I created a child panel and set the size to "tiny" and put in in the bottom of the screen. The normal kicker panel was then set at the top of the screen and set to tiny. The background for the panels is set to transparent.

It is the best working bar I have found!

Keep up the good work!

 RPM

Hello,
For those using the unofficial rpm version of KoolDock I strongly recommend you to compile the official sources and see if the problems continue.
We do not package KoolDock for any distribution. Packages are contributions from KoolDock users to whom we are very grateful.

Greetings,

Do you like or dislike Ubuntu Unity?
 Yes, unity is alien technology!
It is less confusing than Gnome 3 default, shell.
Granny thinks it is much more usable than Gnome 2
Canonical is embarrasing itself with this split project
Gnome 3 default shell is much better
I dislike Unity, Gnome 3 default shell is alien technology!
None of the above, I like the 2Gb for free and Apple alike behavior. Will post a comment instead
