 new email

 by throwirish on: Apr 3 2004

Score 50%

Great theme here. Quick question. I use Thunderbird and have it leave all messages on the server. The server marks the messages as unread, read, and deleted, but leaves them all in the server inbox. Therefore, the script prints out the number of all messages I've recieved over a long period of time. The only way to change this is to log on to the account through the server and clean out the inbox.

Is there a way to instruct the script to search for only unread messages?

Thanks.

No.

stat()

Get mailbox status. The result is a tuple of 2 integers: (message count, mailbox size).

You're talking about modifying the perl mail script? I don't see how stat() helps at all. It doesn't give me anything useful when I use it.

the theme looks awesome, though.

Nice work, I really like it.

I noticed your screenshot has liquid weather integrated into it... Was it easy to do? Any tips?

 IMAP mail support

 by dertony on: Apr 12 2004

I did some work on getting IMAP to work with this excellent theme, and I've put together a little script using fetchmail. It can be used for POP3 aswell. It's advantages are that it can be used with anything fetchmail supports, for example ssl and encrypted authentication.

Here is the script. Just modify the SERVER and USER variables and create a ~/.netrc entry with your password:

####### Cut Here #######

USER="username"
SERVER="mail.server.example"

# --------------------

fetched="`fetchmail -c --ssl -u $USER $SERVER`"

total="`echo $fetched | cut -d' ' -f1`"
seen="`echo $fetched | cut -d' ' -f3 | cut -d'(' -f2`"
unread="`echo $total-$seen | bc`"

echo "$unread/$total";

####### Cut Here ########

Have fun!

Whenever I run fetchmail, it bellyaches to me

fetchmail: unrecognized option `--ssl'

Any thoughts? SSL really seems to be my only choice. Please let me know, thanks!

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
 Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
 I do not like some of the changes.
 KDE is taking the wrong way.
 I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
 I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
