Description:

It's a nice grafical splash screen for LiLo.

It reproduces the Matrix movie scene in which Morpheus gives the 2 pills to Neo. In the movie Morpheus says: "Remember...all I'm offering is the truth. Noting else." offering the pills to Neo.
"Free your mind" is the phrase that Neo says before jump.

Is it cool, isn't it?

HOW TO INSTALL: see the readme-install_xx.txt file inside the .zip file.

***IMPORTANT!!!******************
For version 0.2 (current): I changed the position of the text "Free your mind in: " and some color. So you have to use the configuration lines that other_color.txt contain.
*****************

***PLEASE LEFT YOUR FEEDBACK (AND A COMMENT)!!!***

Coming (not so ^_^) soon:
- grub version & howto
- green version

Changelog:

Hisory:
11/03/2004: fixed language bugs in english readme.

01/03/2004: upload version 0.2 change the image an the lilo.config lines.

29/02/2004: after dinner watching Mai Dire Domenica...udated descripion and added the italian and english readme-install.txt file into the zip file.

29/02/2004: not so early morning...uploaded the .zip file. Put the "how_to_install" in this section. (last night I was so drunk I forgot to upload the archive file, damn :-))

I have Mdk 9.1 + lilo 22.4.1 and I resolved in this way:

# cd /boot>
# cp message-graphic message-graphic.old
# lilo-bmp2mdk mode:0x103 \
timer:450,10,0,25 \
entry:340,470,64+127,15,13,54 \
< handy_128.bmp > message-graphic
# lilo
# reboot

Hope this helps you !!

Ciao

 for mandrake 10.0

 by vrinek502 on: May 3 2004

I use mandrake 10.0 community (LILO version 22.5.8).

I had to change:
install=/boot/boot-bmp.b
with:
install=bmp

REALLY nice
Some green matrix code would fit in nicely I think.

What exactly, did you do to make this work in MDK 10 ? I can't get it to work yet.

Could you post the instructions to editing Lilo?

Regards and thank in advance....

Mandrake 10:

don't change anything in lilo.conf

just type:

# lilo-bmp2mdk mode:0x101 \
timer:450,10,0,25 \
entry:336,470,64+127,15,13,54 \
< handy_128bis.bmp > /boot/message-graphic
# lilo
# reboot

nice work

Morpheus actually says "Remmeber...all I'm offering is the truth. Nothing more." (rather than Nothing else.)
I have made a corrected bmp which can be found at http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/kmeehl/handy_128.bmp

Secondly, the color settings will work only on lilo 22.5.8 and up, so anyone running 22.5.7 will have to upgrade.

Finally, cool idea for a boot image. I likie. =)

 grub-image

good work! this splash image looks amazing.
sadly i've realized grub (0.95+cvs20040624-3) is able to handle image files (.xpm) with max 14 colors only.
so i had to modify your image slightly:
- reduced rgb to indexed palette with 14 colors (used Floyd-Steinberg Color Dithering Algorithm with reduced color bleeding) in grub-version only ... uhh that's ugly :-/
- substituted tux with "official" linux2.0 tux by Larry Ewing (http://www.isc.tamu.edu/~lewing/linux/)
- removed text (everybody can easily put his own message in there ...)
i'm currently working on a matrix background and looking for a "cooler" windows-logo ;-P
do you have a high resolution file showing the hands only ... and are willing to post it? the result would be much better ...

How do you like Plasma 5?
 The best KDE Desktop ever.
 Definitely a nice improvement.
Not decided yet. Haven't tried it yet.
I do not like some of the changes.
KDE is taking the wrong way.
I am still sticking with KDE 3.5.
I have no opinion, but wanted to vote anyway.
